There's speculation (although not from credible sources) that the Sixers might make Simmons available in a package for AD. If I were the Pels, I'd take Simmons + 2021 Miami unprotected first + more pick(s) over Tatum + pick(s) or whatever the Lakers may offer.

But then again, I'm really high on Simmons. At the end of the day, Simmons is a polarizing player. Either you love him or you consider him overrated. Perhaps the Pels GM considers him overrated.

Yeah Simmons could trump all other offers, but based on Tatum owning Simmons in the playoffs at a younger age and us having additional prospects and picks, I don't think it's a given.

Would AD plus Embiid work in the modern NBA? Not that Simmons fits that team either, but it’s hard for me to envision how two 7 footers work in today’s league.
They both can hit from outside, so I really don't see an issue with it.  It really is a shame Cousins got hurt because I wanted to see what those two did in the post season against a team like the Warriors.  That is the one area a team could really damage the Warriors.

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

Tatum’s Dad said even he would trade his son for Anthony Davis.

On today’s celticsbeat podcast interview with Cedric Maxwell.

That settles the debate.

Huh? Lol what. Was there a question asked that made him answer that?  :P

Of course he did.  It puts his son on par with Anthony Davis.  What an honor!

Does Marcus Smart’s improved 3 point shooting (37.4% for season) and continued stellar play make him less available in an Anthony Davis trade? Never thought I’d say this, but he seems more important to keep, in terms of team fit, than Tatum or Brown. Not saying he has more “trade value”. Just that I really think he is a key component to our championship aspirations.

Can we make a trade work in trade machine without trading Smart, Horford or Hayward? Danny may be forced to include Gordon for salary purposes,  which would kill Brad, but we’re talking Anthony Davis here.

Pretty weird that New Orleans has the 13th best point differential in the NBA, but that at the same time we can conclude that it is almost certain that they won't make the playoffs. Also Detroit, Washington and Orlando have the 22th-24th best record and are still in the race for a spot.

I think it's guaranteed now that Davis will not re-sign with them and that he will be traded this summer.

Besides the Lakers, what other franchises will be our competition?

I’m sure people will interpret that he’ll be going to the lakers. :D

Yeah, I think he's already there practicing with them ;D

So Demps and Rich Paul pretty much confirm AD will not be dealt before the deadline. That's great news for us IMO. At least if we want to try for him in the summer, we have a chance still whereas if he was dealt before the deadline to a team like LAL... yeah we wouldn't have that chance because of the Rose Rule.

It depends on who Davis is willing to re-sign with and what NOP is looking for in return.  Will we even be one of those teams?  Do they want young players and picks?  Do they want an established star?  If Washington is in play, they could offer Beal and their 2019 1st.  The Knicks could offer Porzingis and their 2019 1st.

Basically it's an idea from Chris Sheridan that got me intrigued.

https://nesn.com/2019/01/nba-reporter-floats-possible-kyrie-irving-anthony-davis-trade-scenario/

We all know that the C's cannot trade for AD till next summer because of the Rose rule, unless we trade Kyrie as well. The initial idea is a 3-way with the Pels and the Knicks where the C's get AD, the Knicks get Kyrie and the Pels get Zinger + additional assets (prospects/picks). From then on, feel free to play with the trade machine to come up with an idea that would seem at least semi realistic from the Pels point of view.

I'm kind of confident that a package of Zinger + Brown + filler(s) + pick(s) would get the job done (assuming the Pels are willing to sell). Not sure whether I'd part ways with both Kyrie and Brown though. To be honest, it feels like an overpay.
Williams would be a perfect fit next to Porzingis, hence let's throw him in. Anyway, here's the proposed trade:

http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=y7dp72fs

Boston in: AD*
Boston out: Kyrie + Williams + as many picks as it takes to get it done

*(Perhaps we take back a couple of small contracts from the Pels as well to help them come down to 15 players after the trade. In this case, we 'd have to cut Bird or send him to the Knicks.)

NY in: Kyrie
NY out: Porzingis + Ntilikina + Lance Thomas (salary filler) + probably a pick(?)

New Orleans in: Porzingis + Williams + Ntilikina + Lance Thomas + as many picks as it takes to get it done
New Orleans out: AD

At the end of the day, I'm not sure whether that's enough value for the Pels, but it's all about their alternatives on the open market. I mean, if you were the Pels GM and you were looking to get max possible value for AD which package would you rather have? Porzingis + more young prospects/picks or Ingram + Kuz + whatever else the Lakers may offer? Imo, Porzingis is hands down the best player from that group.

As for the Knicks, Kyrie is just 3 years older than Porzingis and he ain't coming off of a major injury. The plan would be to pair Kyrie with a second star via free agency next summer.

Ugh, enough.

The goal is to KEEP the elite player we have and add another elite player.

As above said , the main idea is to pair kyrie (an elite pick and roll guard) with davis (elite pick  and roll forward) And watch the magic happen

Sending out kyrie puts us in treadmilling status

What if the Lakers go all in for AD prior to the deadline though? Cause if I were the Lakers, that's exactly what I would do. I bet that's what LeBron expects them to do as well. Would you like the C's to sit back and hope for the best?

Who do the Lakers have that is even close to the value of Kyrie? Nobody since Lebron is off the table...Lakers could add three young players and they are still inferior to one Kyrie...

Even when winning, these trade threads still keep popping up. To say each day I get sicker and sicker of it would be an understatent

And when Danny does nothing and we are in the finals, suddenly everyone will be saying they knew we should just give it time and let the great players we have gel together.

It will be fun to look back on these threads later in the year and see who would be clueless as a GM.
