Celtics rule out Kemba Walker for Friday’s game in Minnesota due to a sore left knee.

 :(

Please don't tell me he tweaked something during the freakin' All-Star game.

Or maybe it's a load management thing, though I'd hope this is the only game he misses in the near future. Big 4-game West coast trip right after the Break.

Did he get it sore in the All Star game

It’s crazy how few injuries have ever occurred in the all star game. I tried to research that but have never found much injuries.

Its not a good look to miss the first game back after an 8 day break in which he was playing crunch time during the all star game.

New approach. As long as they are healthy in the playoffs this year.

Not sure we would need him anyway.

It’s sort of load management.  His knee is going to be sore for the rest of the year, and in general they’re going to try to keep his minutes down for the rest of the regular season.  Getting him an extra couple of days rest gives him the equivalent of having the full All-Star break of rest, and Minnesota has been awful the last couple months and will be playing without KAT.  I’d also expect him to sit out one of the back-to-back against Portland and Utah — probably Portland if Lillard is still out.

It’s not load management as the technical reason for his sitting — the knee is what they’re treating.  But if it were the playoffs he’d be starting with no restriction.  He didn’t suddenly get hurt last weekend.

*sigh*

I guess this is just the way it's going to be for the rest of the regular season (and maybe every regular season from now on).

Yes, I want everyone healthy for the playoffs, and yes, the Cs should be able to easily beat the Wolves, but it would also be nice for the "true" starting five to get more reps together.

And it does indeed look silly to see that someone is sitting out after playing only 1 game in the last week. But, it is what it is.

We all know that he will likely be playing if this were the playoffs.

Well. At least it helps me in my fantasy playoffs. I’m going against Kemba.

Actually, I just realized the Wolves don't have KAT tomorrow night either.

Is this a strategic load-management move where they think they can beat MIN even without Kemba?

I would say yes. If he doesn't play in that Laker game then I am wrong.

Sorry, but if he has a sore knee, or even if this is just load management, why the heck was he playing 30 minutes, or any minutes at all, in the All Star game?  That is dumb. Kemba and management share in the blame.

yes, i haven't checked it since i am lazy, but it does seem that CBS lets players rest due to injury pretty consistently when they play a bad team.

I'm not too worried. We have to figure out how to win without our best players as there's no guarantee they will not be injured during the playoffs. Next man up.
