Strus doesn't get that deal unless he makes the team, right?

3 point shooting is always needed.  He is noted sharp shooter.  We're not exactly strong in that area from a roster perspective.  Korver light.

Likely Strus doesn’t get the deal if he’s not making the team. It’s possible the Celtics are giving him some goodwill money if he winds up being cut, but that it’s a 2-year deal, with the second year non-guaranteed, is the biggest tip.  If you’re giving money to someone you like but don’t have room for in order to preserve your future relationship, you just sign him to a one-year deal before releasing him.

After today I can see why they are high on him. He’s got a beautiful shooting stroke.

This. He's a pretty good all around player too.

10 years ago he probably has next no to chance of sticking but his game is made for today's NBA.

Well, people on this site have been clamouring for a three point sniper to be on the bench for situational basketball. Well, we have one now.... in theory.... maybe.... kinda.

He looked great today!
Once you are labeled 'the best' you want to stay up there, and you can't do it by loafing around.

Like I said in another thread:

You guys are basically saying that a proven NBA defender who helped us win a playoff series should not make the team based on the way some undrafted rookies (or not even rookies in Green's case) are playing in a few preseason minutes.

Do you all not hear how ridiculous that sounds?

No they're not. They're saying that someone who has made little to no improvement in his numerous years in the NBA should make way for someone that a) might improve and b) might even play better in the meantime
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

PG: Terry Porter (90-91) / Steve Francis (00-01)
SG: Joe Dumars (92-93) / Jeff Hornacek (91-92) / Jerry Stackhouse (00-01)
SF: Brandon Roy (08-09) / Walter Davis (78-79)
PF: Terry Cummings (84-85) / Paul Millsap (15-16)
C: Chris Webber (00-01) / Ralph Sampson (83-84) / Andrew Bogut (09-10)

Numerous = 2, you realize.  You are also arguing that Semi, aged 24 is less likely to improve than Green, age 26, which while not impossible, is not all that likely.

Yeah, not sure where I said that. I just don't think Semi is deserving of a spot in general. Whether that's for Green or someone else, I just have no faith in him really being helpful as long as he continues to be a complete non-factor on offence.

A few months ago everyone was high on Wanamaker, particularly compared to Rozier. Now that we've seen our new shiny rookie toys everyone wants to cut him. That's why I love it here
