...ex-Celtics coach has his Clippers top in the West at 15-6 and Celtics fans still think he's a terrible coach?

He's got his team playing hard and together in the tough tough West.

I mean Clippers best player is Tobias Harris? Really??

Not sure why fans continue to understate his contribution to Celtics history bringing Banner #17 back to the Beantown.

Doc is a near perfect blend of old school meets new school.

One of the best aspects of his management style is that he has developed strong personal networks with both players and upper office personnel. Maybe it wasn't a good idea to make him coach and GM but it's clear why it was tried in the first place.

Just watch his interview with Skip and Shannon and one minute he'll be talking about his continuing relationship with Rondo and the next it'll be golf games with Lawrence Frank and Steve Ballmer.

He's got a great young team that is firing on all cylinders and one of the cleanest books in the league. Nice work Mr. Rivers.

Doc is without a doubt the most polarizing figure on this blog.

There were tons of people who thought he was the best/2nd best coach in the league while he was here, and then an equal amount who think we could have won 4 more titles with anyone but Doc.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

He's a players' coach. He's not exactly the sharpest X's & O's mind.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
Rock Divers is a coach who is amazing at rebuilding who hates rebuilding.

Lots of people are good at things they don't like doing.

Also the Clippers will not continue at this pace.

He's back to doing what he does best coaching. They stripped him of GM duties and that was the right move.

Wait until the Warriors, Rockets, and Lakers start playing for reals and the Clippers start losing like usual then we'll see if he's a good coach or not.

It's impressive, I agree.

But can we just compliment him on a job well done (so far) without picking at the "Doc fans vs. Doc haters" scab?

I don't think this is true. People doubt, for good reason, his GM abilities, which he no longer has to do and can now concentrate on what he does best.

Especially since they brought in a really good GM in Jerry West
I'm bitter.

West is the reason. Doc the GM sucked.

Judge a coach at the end of the season... i do not mind that the clippers are winning... i want their pick and believed that the clippers were a lottery team this and next season

I'll take a player's coach in a player's league.  You can get X's and O's from assistants.  Doc was good at out of bounds plays.
