Ha.  But a very good one for attracting casual fans.  Ohtani vs. Judge will bring in a lot of eyeballs.

Freddie Freeman with the grand slam, seals Game 1 win for LA Dodgers. Dodgers up 1-0 in the series.

Dodgers missed a lot of opportunities in the 6th-8th innings. Freeman saved their bacon.

Interesting footnote: That was the first walkoff grand slam in World Series history (696th WS game).

That's a very brutal loss for NYY. Ace-performance from Cole, exhausted the bullpen, got a Stanton HR and some other breaks along the way, and still lost in that fashion. Perfect chance to steal one.

This series is crazy for me...I want both teams to lose.  But I'll live with LA winning, I just don't want to see the Yankees win another WS.

There are only two teams in MLB history that have come back up from 0-3 deficit:

2020 Astros, who eventually lost to the Rays in Game 7 of the ALCS.

And ofc, we cannot forget about the infamous 2004 Red Sox. They were down 0-3, struck back and beat the Yankees in Game 7 enrout to winning the World Series that run.

Looks like Yankees avoided a sweep

Random thought about the Yankees relating to the Celtics (was watching both simultaneously the other night):

They have a similar number of retired jerseys (Celtics with 23 including LOSCY, Yankees with 24 but with #8 and #42 being retired twice), but I think it's interesting that the Celtics still have so many single digits not retired that were available for guys on the current roster, with a healthy Porzingis the C's entire starting lineup would consist of guys wearing single digits, while the Yankees have every number 1-10 retired (#0 is still available though).

If you didn't know better, and told someone the C's have so many numbers retired that guys have to wear weird numbers, would be kinda shocked to see a the starting lineup walk out wearing such normal, low numbers.

Interesting, hadn't realized that. It in indeed surprising that 0, 4, 7, 8, and 9 were never claimed by great players.

I'd assume Rondo is not a "great" player  ;D

And LA brings home another championship...Dodgers are your 2024 World Series Champs once again.

And the Yankees succumb to the 5th inning and fell apart. Must be a very bad week to be a New York sports fan

Great at times, but overall I'd say "very good." Definitely not "retired number" worthy. :)

Watching the implosion in the 5th inning was truly a joy.    The $300 million dollar man is too good to cover 1st?
