Houston going to release Melo..now where will he end up at?
-
I like Simmons theory. Back to the Knicks to help them lose games.
-
I think Magic and Lebron have a thing for former stars and he goes to the Lakers.
-
I don't think he lands on an NBA team. OKC and Houston were excellent opportunities for Melo to adapt to a new role on a contending team. The problem is that he only knows how to play basketball as a high volume scorer. He contributes absolutely nothing to winning.
Realistically Carmelo needs/needed to focus on becoming a better defender and spot up shooter. This might mean that there's games where he only takes 5 shots off the bench. Can he be relied on to hit open looks when the volume isn't there? I'm very doubtful to say the least.

Carmelo Anthony’s brief stop with the Houston Rockets is over, league sources tell ESPN. Anthony will part ways with team, although there are no immediate plans to place 10-time All-Star on waivers. Team announcement is expected before Rockets play Golden State tonight.

If LeBron wants him, then he will go to Lakers..that who i pick

Miami for Wade’s last year.

All of the no-defense chucker type players are going to China.

Wade still inexplicably loves Melo. Hopefully the Steroid King does as well.

He can't actually go there since they waived less than a year ago.

He would actually fit; if he indeed finally realized that after 4 teams continuously getting rid of him, would open his eyes to the revelation that he isn't as much of a star as he used to be...
Needs to go back to the small ball 4 days of the NYK, that led to him catch and shooting 3's, pick and popping, and rebounding, while contesting shots on defense. Something he vehemently disliked, and he stressed to D'Antoni and Woodson.
-
If Miami shows any interest in him, it'll be his next team. I think Melo's going to stay away from Championship or bust expectations. He's been the publicly humiliated in 3 different situations now. It's Miami, Wade is there, expectations are low, and Whiteside is there to cover for him defensively.
Outside of Miami, NO and Utah are the best situations because he'll be able to close out games in markets that aren't as demanding and have the best shotblockers to cover for his defensive weaknesses.
The Lakers and Sixers are terrible situations for him. If the criticism and demotion caused him to leave Houston, imagine LA and Philly.

I'd probably just wait until I got the right offer if I was Anthony. No reason to end up like Jamal Crawford. Just ride it out and the right fit will likely come along at some point.

But what is the right fit for him? Houston was doomed from the start - they never replaced the defense they lost in free agency, but OKC was a great opportunity. Plenty of catch and shoot opportunities, get covered defensively by PG, Adams, and Roberson (when healthy) but that didn't work out. He doesn't seem to want to play to his strengths in his current state and still wants to be the iso guy he was in his prime. Not sure what team can accommodate that without sacrificing winning. Not sure what tanking team will appeal to him at his age.

Don't understand how it could be so hard to simply set screens/picks, rebound, and just catch and shoot 3's... Like, Melo complained about how they expected him to just stand in the corner and wait, but when you're getting paid over 20 million, why is it so hard? It's amazing to me that he still hasn't been humbled by OKC and the Knicks fiasco... Signing him to that multi year deal was pure stupidity.
Jazz and Miami make the most sense.

Mello will average 30+ this year, he can still (china-)ball.

PBA.
He will be a legend there.

I disagree on Utah. I don't think Melo can (or rather, wants to) be a system player. Miami I could see because DWade is there and Spoelstra + Pat can deal with his ego.
