I think no top 10 picks (or territorial) makes it far more interesting because there are a lot great players in the 6 to 10 range.  Far more about team building, fit, elite skill (though not elite player), etc. which I think would make it far more interesting, especially when dealing with the entire history of the league.

I'm in either way, my preference would just be 11 - undrafted.
I think 11-undrafted works nicely. Heaps of great players, particularly non-US players. Would also allow us to avoid Bird, who I think would be the runaway best choice if it was 6-undrafted
Yeah Bird is a clear issue on this board (in a good way), but I don't think you couldn't overcome it with guys like Dirk, Curry, Reed, Hondo, etc. Going 11 on though, there are around 8-10 guys that are still uber elite (I think there are 6 MVP winners available - some with multiple) and then another 8 or so that are still all timer good, so the 1st 2 rounds in the snake would be pretty interesting.  You might actually be better off in the 4 or 5 range as opposed to 1 so you can get a better 2nd fiddle.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

11-undrafted would be nice too. I'm in either way!

I already made a 105-players list based on the 6-undrafted format. Darth_Yoda is right. Lots of great players! Larry is hands down the best one in my book. I guess young non-Celtics fans may argue in favour of Kobe though. :P

Btw, as of last Saturday there is a quarantine here in Greece. It will last till November 30, at the very least. Would you guys be interested in starting the game this month instead of waiting till January?

It will be tough to organize and sort out the draft positions of the players along with their impact.

Unless there is a site out there that already has sortable player stats ALONG with their draft positons. But I do not think there is one.

Imo, there's no need to rank all the players at once. Last time we played, we were drafting 2 rounds per day. Worst case scenario, you need to rank the first 2 rounds and then go from there. People rank players very differently. For instance, Roy H. drafted Karl Malone at #36 in the 21st-century draft (possibly the steal of the draft). We had to pick a single season from 1999/00 to 2019/20 for each player we drafted. I guess we were deterred by Malone's age in 1999/00 even though he was still a stud that season.

I drafted Luka at #33. I had him in the top 10 of my rankings. Go figure!

Yeah I think my concerns were a bit overblown now that I'm running through the draft classes in NBA history. Would like to run a double snake for the first three rounds with how good guys like Giannis/Kawhi/Kobe/etc are compared to the other "lower end" MVP calibre talents + a relatively flat curve for the All-NBAers/All-Stars in the next couple of rounds though.

I'd argue in favour of Curry tbh , him and Bird are really close imo.

I'm good with no top 10. It might be a little harder to find talent towards the end of the draft, but that just means I'll need to dig deeper, which is fun to me. As for the time, I'm good with whatever time is convenient for everyone else.

I’m in for whatever format we end up deciding. I think a top 5 restriction would probably be better than a top 10.

A draft like this calls for a LOT of research.

A lot of quality players to be had...quite a few hidden gems.

Is this totally open to ALL available players ever?

not really.  There are certainly some defensive specialist type player, but pretty much every single all time great anchor down low was not just a top 10 pick, but also a top 5 one.  There is only 1 center that is a top 10 all time guy available, and he might be the only top 20 one, which is why I think he will be the 1st player taken (even if you could argue there are better players than him available).
