Jalen rose said it isn't a rivalry anymore cuz the hatred from the "bird vs magic teams" isn't there . Michelle And chauncy agreed. Paul pierce told them that theyre wrong and there doesn't need to be hate for it to be a rivalry

Thoughts?

only Pierce lived it while the others are moronic pinheads.

It still is. I mean come on, were folks actually saying back in the February game that it wasn't a rivalry anymore? It only felt that way tonight because Lakers are basically done for the season (plus they got grim diagnoses on Ingram and Ball ending their seasons), and to be honest the game did feel that way mostly. But glad we took care of business anyways.

We should've swept these punks if it wasn't for Rondo's fluke jumper.

was thinking the same.  its one of the longest rivalries in sports and to dismiss it is ridiculous

I feel its just another anti-boston sentiment / initiative by the media . They'd prefer to make a new rivalry like la-toronto or something stupid

Jalen Rose is right. How can you call it a rivalry when Kyrie and Lebron are making out after the game is over?

Maybe the fact that they were teammates and won a championship together while McHale and Rambis weren’t might have something to do with it.
Any odd typos are because I suck at typing on an iPhone :D

Rivalries go thru ebbs and flows - Celtics-Lakers & Celtics-Sixers are the great rivalries in the NBA. There are a few others, but they don't rank with these two. Part of our problem in this country these days, no respect for history.

These are the same talking heads who now refer to the Celtics as the second most storied franchise in league history. I still laugh at all these NBA players who took their beatings at the hands of the Celtics and still make cutting remarks towards us, years later. Pat Riley, Phil Jackson, Kurt Rambis, Kareem, Wilt, Jalen Rose, Chauncey Billups, etc. - all still bitter.

Having said that, I 100% agree with Gpap on the post-game love-in. I cannot stand all the hugging after every NBA game and Irving and James with their  long hug and then the ridiculous covering of mouths turned my stomach - such self-importance.

Russell - Cowens - Bird - Garnett

The Four Celtic Lieutenants:
Cousy - Havlicek - McHale - Pierce

Lakers are now in the "Dark Ages".

6 straight seasons missing the playoffs.

This all started when Phil Jackson retired in 2011 and Jim Buss took over.

I don't mind the Lakers going on a 22-year drought.

But the Celtics need to start winning championships. This is like Year #11 drought.

Time to put some distance between us and the Lakers in the championship column.

It's not a rivalry anymore-they're irrelevant.

I too would much rather players throw each other down by their necks than be friendly to each other after the game's over.
