I know we have a few golden era wrestling fans here (like myself), so it's sad to hear Animal of the Road Warriors / Legion of Doom has passed away.

While he always seemed like a tough beast when wrestling, he did a lot of interviews in his post wrestling days, and always came off like a cool, down-to-earth dad to me.  His son ended up playing 8 years in the NFL.

Definitely one of my favorites as a kid.  His hair cut, his face paint, his spikes, his scowl, his in ring style, all just fit perfectly into the more cartoony era of pro wrestling, but at the same time didn't feel out of place in the more more real/attitude era.

RIP

I was born in 1972, so I was right in the middle of that golden age.

Hey, here's another one you'll recognize. Aefgogreen pointed out that Danny Davis (He's called Tony Brothers in the NBA) is officiating tonight.

If I was drinking something when I read that, I probably would have done a spit take.

Big LOD. fan as a kid.  Remember being thrilled when they knocked off the Nasty Boys to win the tag team titles at Summerslam.

Makes me think of their days in the AWA.

those guys live a hard life , pressure and an assortment of pills and steroids , weight , drinking etc out the wahzoo,   Its common to to pro wrestlers die young or not live to ripe old ages.

Yeah, there's some insane stat that like 50% of the wrestlers involved in Wrestlemania VI are dead.    A lot of them died in the their 40s or younger.
