The Detroit Pistons are finalizing a trade to send guard Alec Burks to the New York Knicks, sources tell ESPN.

Bogdanovic must be on his way out of the Pistons soon.

Good for DET. Do not understand it for NY. Solid young bench player for journeyman end of bench player.

Didn’t the Knicks salary dump Burks’ contract a couple of drafts ago?  Now they’re getting that same contract back?  That feels like very poor resource management.

The Pistons are trading Bojan Bogdanovic to the Knicks too, sources tell ESPN. Evan Fournier and Malachi Flynn will go to Detroit.

So he’s the guy NY really wanted. Makes sense now.

So the Knicks now have

SG: Donte DiVincenzo, Josh Hart, Alec Burks
SF: OG Anunoby, Bojan Bogdanovic

That is a deep wing rotation.

They have no real backup PF. I am guessing they intend on playing small with OG at PF some of the time. Get Burks some minutes on the wing.

Looks like this will be turned into a 3-way with the 76ers:

Quote
The Philadelphia 76ers are not quite done dealing just yet. They made their big move by acquiring Buddy Hield from the Indiana Pacers, but now is the time to set themselves up for any future moves.

The Sixers will send Danuel House Jr. and a second-round pick via the New York Knicks to the Detroit Pistons in a deal. House averaged 4.2 points and 1.7 rebounds while shooting 30% in 34 games with four starts for the Sixers on the team. It is unclear what the Pistons have given to Philadelphia at the moment.

The deal gives Philadelphia more salary cap cushion to go out and sign somebody like perhaps Kyle Lowry should he be bought out by the Charlotte Hornets after the deadline.

I am guessing that DET gets multiple picks out of this?

Not sure I love it for NY.

Like... I get the thought process, they need offense and Bojan provides offense, but he's a defensive hole that the Knicks didn't really have before.  Thibs is going to pull out the last remnants of his hair trying to find ways to hide him.

Also, from what I've seen, Detroit fans have been very uncomplimentary of Alec Burks this year.  The term "committing basketball terrorism" came up at least once.  He hits some threes at least?
