I think a very credible case could be made for each of these guys. I know most would think I would choose Jaylen Brown here, but I am conflicted. Brown's appearance on this list should surprise no one on this list.

Grant's jump to being a #1 offensive option, though admittedly on a horrible team is remarkable. I did not see that coming. I think he might be the early season leader for this award.

Randle's offensive game has really expanded, especially his playmaking and rebounding, and he appears to be a positive influence on winning, maybe for the first time in his career.

Collin Sexton has upped his game considerably getting more efficient, more aggressive and looking like a possible #1 offensive option.

Christian Wood's numbers from last year to this year, have taken a huge leap forward, but Wood was actually playing at this level for a while the last 15-20 games of last year, so maybe not the perfect candidate for the award here. But, his game has progressed forward quite a bit still, all things considered.

So, thoughts?

Gotta go with Grant for me. All the others had the talent, in my opinion, to play at a really high level. Never thought Grant would be anything more than a role player.
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

PG: Terry Porter (90-91) / Steve Francis (00-01)
SG: Joe Dumars (92-93) / Jeff Hornacek (91-92) / Jerry Stackhouse (00-01)
SF: Brandon Roy (08-09) / Walter Davis (78-79)
PF: Terry Cummings (84-85) / Paul Millsap (15-16)
C: Chris Webber (00-01) / Ralph Sampson (83-84) / Andrew Bogut (09-10)

For me it's between him and Brown.

Grant has gone from role player to possible just outside of All-Star status while Brown has gone from just outside All-Star status to possible 2nd team All-NBA status.

Which leap is more impressive? Which is harder to do?

I would say Brown’s leap was harder to do, but with the way he continually improves every single year (besides that year that Kyrie mucked everything up) makes it less of a shock. Every preseason Brown returns with some new weapon in the arsenal.

Wouldn’t be upset seeing him win it, and I think he fits the trend set by guys like Ingram winning it

These awards are often about spreading the wealth. Brown almost guaranteed to make all star game, and, if he continues at this pace, get strong consideration for All NBA 2nd or 3rd Team.  Is there any All Star buzz for Grant this year? I doubt it.  So I think it is a pretty good bet Grant will be given the MIP award.

Just one man's opinion.

I wonder how true this is anymore. Ingram, Oladipo, Giannis and Jimmy Butler all recently were MIP and All-Stars in the same year (Oladipo was even All-NBA)

my thought is  that MIP should not be easily given to players drafted in the top ten.

This is a great list for MIP and I could make a case for any of these guys.

Seasons still early so I suspect a couple of these guys are going to return to their means.
ok fine

Definitely Brown imo. All of the other guys went from below average, neutral or slightly above average into fringe top 30 talents at best, while Brown went from a fringe top 30 talent into a guy who's knocking on the door of top 15.
Jaylen Brown for All-NBA

I took Brown. As others pointed out role player to All star is good but just outside all-star leaping to All NBA is big. We could also look at what is harder going from top 100 to top 30 or going from top 40 to top 10.
