well well well. I had a hard time not selecting Scalabrine here....but...

This one will ruffle some feathers for sure.

but who would have thought that in the final round, pick 4 the spurs would have the opportunity to select someone who, in their best season, put up:

27.4 ppg
8.1 rpg
3.1 apg
1.2 spg
on 45% from 2 and 40% from three.

very clutch when the game is on the line, this guy will be my microwave scorer off the bench at either the sf or the pf spot.

with the 12.4 pick the Spurs select.

Sweet Melon

Carmelo Anthony

TRADE

I don't understand that trade. Detroit sent two better players for two worse players.

I liked the Butler fit better with what I'm doing, which is a defensive team. With Nance on the board, Horford is expendable for me.

I know, and I'll take the flak for it, but I like where my team is at with what I'm trying to do. A defensive capable team, from top to bottom.

Detroit got much better defense on the wings, and honestly, doesnt lose alot in terms of Al to Hedu.

Hedu is worse, yes, but the difference is equal to the difference between Butler and King. of which butler is better. not as prolific a scorer, but a far superior team player and defender.

I like both our teams after the deal.

With pick 12.5, the Detroit Pistons is picking a backup PG, and an underrated one.

I wanted a guy who can defend, add some scoring, and can shoot, and I found one. He also happen to have two All-NBA Defensive teams on his belt, which fits my defense first identity of the team.

We select Derek Harper.

Love the Derek Harper pickup. He was on my 3rd string PG list too. I decided to go with a small speedy guard instead of a big defensive PG/SG because I had two guys like that already.

I really like Derek Harper as a glue guy.

I debated Harper.

But with that ripe apple of Melo sitting there...

I didn't either and agree Yoki was giving up the two best players. He acknowledged he was giving up the better players but said he loved Butler and the fit. We are talking bench players and, with the exception of King, about the very end of the bench players, so I let it go.

I have no idea if Melo moves the needle at all in a draft like this.  Tough one to gauge.

Hard to say anyone at this stage really does.

but 27, 8 and 3 for my 10th or 11th man is hard to match.

If he buys in he helps a lot. He’s got the size and scoring ability to match up with any SF.

It just comes down to how much you trust him.

With that trade, my reserve 5 goes.

PG: Derek Harper
SG: Michael Cooper
SF: Jimmy Butler
PF: Larry Nance
C : Dikembe Mutombo

That's a terrific defensive squad, with a clear hierarchy a to who's the alpha of the group. From the starters to the bench, sans Hedo and Pistol (who are end of bench guys for this team), this team is full players who have made All-Defensive teams. No nights off for the opposition offensively, they'd have to bring it, as everyone will bring their A-Game defensively in Detroit.

As far as scoring, I'm just going to have to convince everybody that I have it.
