With the 5th pick of 11th round, the Atlanta Hawks select a speedy backup PG in Kevin Johnson for when you just need something different.
Here is a guy I thought should have gone long ago. Lots of injuries but he was one helluva player. Excellent value half way through round 11.

It's too bad my lasting impression of him now is how much of an absolute scumbag he is.

The Portland Trailblazers for pick 11.6 will select DPOY Alvin Robertson.

Sticking with the overall theme of the roster, the Blazers are happy to welcome the best steal generator in basketball history (career average of 2.7 spg is still #1).  In addition to getting into passing lanes, Alvin was an excellent passer and rebounder with several seasons of 6 each and could put the ball in the hole when needed to.

I had a feeling you might go there.   Very nice pick.

Yep. It’s not quite like taking OJ in a historical football draft, but it’s in the same ballpark.

Alvin Robertson is a really nice pick. Creative destruction. I love that phrase for describing guards like him.

Guys who create for their teams by destroying opposing players / moves. Grabbing rebounds. Creating extra possessions for their team & teammates. He was so good at it they chose him as an All-Star starter in the mid 80s.

A bit annoyed at myself for never having Alvin Robertson on my draft board. Good player.

With pick 11(4) the Utah Jazz will take Mark Eaton.

Honestly never watched him play, but the blocks and his size impresses me. Please fill me in haha!
Never liked him. Statuesque defender. Cannot defend in space which is required in today's game. Huge. Absolutely huge. Like Yao Ming. But like Yao, probably worse than Yao, Eaton is in trouble any time he has to move his feet. And unlike Yao, no offensive game.

As an aside - Eaton credits Wilt for giving him the best advice of his career and helping him make it in the NBA. Basic advice but it stuck and served him well in NBA. Told him to stop chasing smaller guys away from the basket. Stay in the paint. Rebound. Block shots. That is your job.

I think it's a good pick for an 11th or 12th man.
Situational Post defender, late game off/def sub, try and shut down a big on a hot streak, etc

The MIA Heat for pick 7 of the 11th round is going with - not YOURvydas...MYvydas...but

ARVYDAS! The YOUNG Sabonis.

Took much wrangling and diplomacy with Russia but we got our backup Center to keep the offense flowing with Shaq getting a breather.

Arguably one of the best PLAYERS in the world in the 80s.

Sabonis (more offense orientated) a nice contrast to Thurmond (more defense orientated) as backup center.

Sabonis and Webber would be a fun passing duo.

How will we treat undrafted players? Will they be free to sign on your team, if you let someone else go?

We wanted to continue our theme of defense, and since we need a scoring punch, we are happy that he's someone who not only can defend, but could add some buckets when needed.

3x All Star
3x All NBA Defensive Teams

For pick 11.8, the Detroit Pistons select Larry Nance, SR.
