Was watching sportsnet central on comcacat and Sherrod says to look for the c's to try and acquire OJ Mayo again around the deadline . This guy is wrong about almost everything so take it for what it's worth, but just for fun
Dal sends: OJ Mayo+ Kris Kaman
Bos sends: Jeff Green, Bradley, Melo, filler and picks
Would Dalls do it ?
PG: Rondo / Terry
SG: Mayo / Lee
SF: PP / Vet min
PF: KG / Sully
C: Kaman / Collins

I don't think they do.
An outside chance they could use their cap room next year to land Dwight Howard. I doubt they'd take on Green and jeopardize that possibility.

we're not going to send half our team for kaman and mayo.

They will have to mayo just as much if not more than Green next year if the want to keep him .
In this trade Bradley is a solid replacement for Mayo. Green fills a need on the wing .Melo and picks seems like a pretty good deal.
They would still have cap space to go after Dwight with more holes filled
-
I would do Mayo for Bradley if Im the Mavs, not sure ill take Jeff Green for Kaman though. I could be wrong!

Mayo has a player option for next year. He could walk, and if Dallas can use the freed up cap space to put Dwight next to Dirk, Cuban will drive Mayo to the airport.

ok take out kaman and jeff green then
Mayo for Bradley, Melo and a 1st?
-
no Melo either Bradley holds his own weight with Mayo, Bradley has a BIG upside I believe.
-
I don't think the trade makes a whole lot of sense for either team.
-
The Celtics attempted to acquire Mayo for Ray Allen before the trade deadline last February, and talked with his representatives again over the summer. The Celtics eventually acquired Courtney Lee in a sign-and-trade, signing him to a four-year deal.
“There was definitely interest in talking to them,” Mayo said before the game. “See what we could work out. But I don’t think we moved as fast as they liked. They made some other signing, so it’s all good.”
-
Mayo for Bradley.
No thank you.
-
Mayo for Bradley.
No thank you.
I would do it in a millisecond.
-
Well if Sherrod Blakely said so it must be true.
He was so on the money with the Cousins rumor.
-
I don't want Mayo and Terry on the same team. Terry HAS to be included in the deal if we want Mayo.

Mayo + Wright for Bradley + Terry
-
Why would the Mavs want Terry back?
If anything it'd be something like Bradley+Bass for Mayo and Jones or Beaubois.
-
Mayo for Bradley.
No thank you.
I would do it in a millisecond.
An undersized SG who's ideal as a sixth man for a 22 year old who is probably the best defender at the guard position in the league?
Even if you think it's a wash, consider that the Cs would have to pay Mayo BIG BUCKS after this season to keep him.
Not worth it.
-
Did I miss the part where OJ Mayo became a star player? He's having a nice season I guess although I'm not seeing him playing much defense. I'm definitely not giving up AB/Melo/1st for him though.
Here is something to think about. Give Jeff Green 35 minutes a night, make him the 1st option and let him average 14 shot attempts. I'd be willing to wager his stats mirror Mayos. Also if Mayo came to the C's his numbers would look pretty similar to Green's...oh wait we have a 5 guard rotation as is so he wouldn't play more than 15 mpg.
For the Mavericks Mayo is #1 in pts, #2 in asts, #1 in mpg, #2 in spg and #1 in TOs per game. Usage is probably more telling than anything.
No way I trade Bradley for 6 months of Kaman/Mayo.
-
^Agreed not huge on Mayo or Kaman this would be just to shake things up? Those guys won't make or break us.
-
Lets trade Ray Allen for him..... :)
-
I would love mayo on this team absolutly wish the Cs traded for him last season. His offense would go along way to help counter the aging of Pierce.
With that said I dont want to see AB go for Mayo. The ideal situation would have been if the Ray trade went down and left us with Rondo, Avery and Mayo in a 3 guard rotation with rondo playing 36min and OJ/AB each getting 30.
-
AB did not look like an elite defender against Irving.

Mayo for Bradley.

Bradley's shorter than Mayo. Mayo's a better player than Bradley right now.
Not saying I'd do the trade, but man, Bradley is really overrated on this board.
-
AB did not look like an elite defender against Irving.
Well, Irving is going to make a lot of guys look bad, but I thought somebody posted the numbers showing that Bradley did an okay job limiting him.
Here it is:
Chris Forsberg @ESPNForsberg
Irving was 2 for 3 and Bradley fouled him twice. Not a lot of shots vs. AB. RT @BTUMassHoops: any Synergy numbers for Kyrie vs. Bradley?
-
AB did not look like an elite defender against Irving.
he also didn't get much of a chance since he had hurt ribs, the flu, and early foul trouble....just saying
-
Sherrod is a dope. Celtic insider?? I'd rather listen to the deli guy.

Bradley also seemed to get a lot of help guarding Irving. Sully (I think) also picked up a couple of fouls on Irving when he got past Bradley.

He means RAJON RONDO! Irving made 2 of 3 shots on AB... once you (RR) let him get hot there was not much you could do. Then add that to AB having injured ribs...

Is he ever right???
-
Important question here. Would the Cs maintain Bird Rights on Mayo if he doesnt pick up his option for next season (which he won't)? I think this is a significant factor in what the Cs would give up for him. Roy?
-
I'd much rather get Redick.
-
Sherrod is always wrong folks.
-
AB did not look like an elite defender against Irving.
I read somewhere that Irving only shot 2-3 with Bradley on him, and that the rest of his shots came when he had other defenders on him?
-
I read somewhere that Irving only shot 2-3 with Bradley on him, and that the rest of his shots came when he had other defenders on him?
You read? Well, I saw the game and Irving got him in foul trouble quickly. Two fouls that dictated the change. Fouls caused by ticky tack refs to some degree and also a clear advantage by Irving.
-
I would like Mayo, but I wouldn't like to give up Bradley to get him.
That said we do REALLY need scoring, and Mayo right now is averaging 18 PPG and doing so pretty efficiently (46% FG, 42% 3PT, 86% FT). He would take over Ray's old role as our second scoring option and would take a lot of the pressure of Pierce and KG, which is exactly what we need.
It's a small move, but picking up Mayo could seriously transform this team.
Is there ANY chance we could get him without giving up Bradley? I doubt the Mavs would have any interest in taking Terry, Lee or Barbosa for Mayo...neither of them is near Mayo's level right now. They also have a ton of bigs, so I doubt they'd have any interest in Sullinger, Wilcox or Bass. They probalby wouldn't mind Green, but I doubt they'd have any interest in taking that salary given their budget plans.
I think for this to happen it would need to include Bradley or else it's a no-deal...

Yes, I didn't watch that particular game - I was too frustrated by the fact that we lost to the [dang] Cavs and frankly didn't have the energy to sit through it.
As for the fouls, Bradley constantly gets called for unicorn (i.e. non existent) fouls with his constant ball pressure. The kid plays hard and gets right up into people's faces, and he gets a lot of fouls called on him in the process. It's not like this is a unique result that only happens when Irving is against him.

Again, even if Mayo is a better / more valuable player than Bradley right now -- the Celtics would have to pay him a TON of money (much more than he's worth) to keep him around after this season.
-
Pretty smart by Sherrod, puts out an old rumor because there has been links in the past to that player, making it not seem out of left field.

I think you are exagerating the amount the celtics would have to pay Mayo. He's not going to get a max deal. More along the lines of Jeff Green money imo. Bradley will also demand good money when his deal runs out. It's a matter of who you prefer to pay.

danny needs to stop chasing his white whale

Is this the same Sherrod that said two weeks ago the Celtics were on the verge of trading for Demarcus Cousins?
What's he going to tell us next?
-
Pretty smart by Sherrod, puts out an old rumor because there has been links in the past to that player, making it not seem out of left field.
Nah, the rumor is only coming out of deep 3rd base
-
Does A Sherrod Blakely ever stop grasping at the trade rumor straws that are out there? How many times does he have to be wrong before CSNNE cans his butt for being a horrible inside reporter?
-

That's not on Rondo. If they gave Rondo as much help with Irving as Bradley get he probably doesn't go off like that. If they didn't give Bradley anymore help than they gave Rondo he probably keeps scoring.

I know right? all he does is tweet 47 possible trade rumors about the Celtics a day, most of which are just baseless commonsense tweets, and when he actually hits one he acts like he had some amazing info.
Easily my least favorite Celtics "insider"
Edit: here, I'm gonna play a game called being sherrod.
"Sources tell me Celtics interested in signing LBJ when his contract is up"
"If the Price was right, Dainge very interested in acquiring Blake Griffen."
"Just talked to a High Placed Celtics Source, Very interested in adding a big man."
"Just had a fruit smoothy with my High Placed Celtics source. I can confirm they are very interested in acquiring Kevin Durant if the opportunity arises."

Twitter and trade rumors are a match made in hell. Someone tweets a rumor (no matter how flimsy) or even a proposal as opposed to a rumor, a ton of other people tweet what they read on twitter, and that rumor's seen as a near fact because it ends up on so many different websites.

I have no interest in paying Mayo 36 million over 4 years. In truth, he'll probably get closer to 4/40 or 4/45.
Bradley, unless he has a breakout year scoring 15+ pts a game, will likely make closer to 4/20 to 4/30. Defensive specialists don't get paid big bucks. But I'd still rather have Bradley on my team than Mayo.
Bradley also is on a nice rookie contract for another couple of seasons.

I think that Bradley's fairly comparable to Tony Allen, not quite the defender but a better offensive player (IMO). TA was starting over Mayo and getting as many minutes as Mayo at the sg spot, I don't think that speaks to Mayo being significantly better than Bradley.
-
Unless we get him for JT, im not interested.
