One of the craziest career paths ever - total stud out of HS, just scratching the surface of his potential when he absolutely shreds his entire knee so badly they considered amputating the leg, rehab, bounces around for years, lands in the perfect situation in GS and becomes a key reserve for 3 champions across 5 straight Finals. Still just turned 34 two days ago. Incredible story and always seemed like a good guy. Happy retirement!

Remarkable indeed, to come back from that injury and win multiple chips as a key reserve.

It doesn't happen too often.  The only other guy I can think of like that is Amir Johnson, and he didn't win any chips, just returned from what could have been a career-ending injury.

Great comeback story.

To bounce back from that insanely serious & devastating injury & carve out the career he ended up having is pretty impressive.

To me, Shaun Livingston was that last really intriguing high school-to-NBA prospect.

The vast majority of prep-to-pros were forwards and centers.  Livingston was a guard.

In 2004 when Livingston was drafted, only 2 guards were ever selected in the 1st round out of high school.  Kobe at #13 in '96, and DeShawn Stevenson at #23 in 2000.  And they're both shooting guards, Livingston was as a point guard.

Even Sebastian Telfair, who was in the same class, and had much more hype (movie, book, magazine covers, Marbury's cousin, NYC point guard appeal, etc.) wasn't a sure thing to get drafted in the lottery (ended up going #13), both I believe the only 2 point guards to get drafted out of high school.  Drafting point guards out of high school just wasn't a thing.

So for a guy like Livingston, rumored to maybe even go top 3 (and here's a random Chad Ford blurb mentioning the Celtics maybe trading Pierce to the Bulls to get him), to get drafted so high, and of course due to the height and position was compared to Magic (felt like he was comparable to maybe a rawer, skinnier, more pure PG version of Ben Simmons),  I was definitely intrigued to see how he'd do.  Clippers were a young-ish upcoming team too.

However, there also is a lot of talk the Bulls are looking to trade this pick. Shaun Livingston also is a possibility here. Several teams have been trying to move up to get him, and the Bulls might be willing to facilitate a trade. The Pacers, Sonics, Sixers and Celtics have been aggressively pursuing a high lottery pick. The Bulls, who are in the market for veterans, are talking about scenarios that would bring Al Harrington or Paul Pierce to Chicago.

One of the great injury what ifs.

The other guy I think of also got it done as a Warrior - Andrew Bogut, though his brutal injury was upper-body.

Thanks for the link. Is it just me or does it seem like Iguodala has barely aged at all over the past 15 years?
