Bud literally outcoached Steven's so badly, it's like he did it with his eyes closed.
More like the bucks are much better. But okay.
Stevens roster management was exposed this year. These guys walked all over him.
Or they wer never that good and never fit properly.
They only didn't fit properly due to p--- poor talent management and coaching. The stylistic fit is there and capable of working; it's the personality and character fit that was suspect, which is something that can be managed by effective coaching and leadership. Brad Stevens single greatest mistake is not defining the roles early on, which has just allowed the chemistry issues to fester and exacerbate all season long.
Show me the complementary players that know their role. Show me the specialist that can really really shoot. The fit of these players is awful.
THEY DON'T KNOW THEIR ROLE BECAUSE THE COACH NEVER DEFINED THEM EARLY ON! That's the entire problem, and that's why you had the young/old dichotomy in the locker room early on.
The level of talent is absolutely there, and while not an absolutely perfect fit, their talents are complementary enough to work well together. The talent has just been completely mismanaged and in a p--- poor offensive philosophy, which has served as a barrier to these guys meshing.
Buddy, the coach doesn’t define their roles. The players given their skillset do. Great teams happen organically.
Lol that's why Giannis and the Bucks were so good last year with Kidd and Prundy. Just a coincidence that a coach of the year comes in and they maximize the talent they have and become the best team in the NBA.
To be fair, adding Lopez and a few other players certainly didn't hurt, but the biggest difference in that team is much better coaching and leadership and a much better offensive philosophy.
My point is simple; there was a Grand Canyon type gap between these two teams. That’s no coaching.
As for kid, I’m not saying there aren’t some terrible coaches out there. Just that Brad isn’t one of them. And giannis was half the player he is now when Kidd was there. He’s now among the best in the world. So it’s certainly not coaching that’s making them great.
But my original point stands. If the coach has to tell the players their role, we’re in trouble.
How does the coach not tell guys what's expected out of them? That's literally his job. He's there to put his guys in a position to succeed. You think any good coach would have let his guys go down time aftef time and launch a 3 after 1 FREAKING PASS?
I do not get the love affair with this coach. We make the ECF despite having a few injuries and he's red reincarnate. Ever elimination game for the last 3 years has played out the same. They play poor defense and every single clown on this team thinks they're in the 3pt competition. Meanwhile our coach just stands there like a kid not wanting to eat his veggies. GOOD COACHES don't allow their team to play so unorganized.
It absolutely should not have taken until game 5 for this guy to get animated about giannis taking a world tour in the paint either.
He's not a good coach. Maybe a few more playoff exits will finally get people to figure this out.
But those are just words. So what! And you think he didn’t ever do that? Are words going to help Tatum become a spot up shooter? Not his game. Are words going to turn jaylen into reddick type shooter? No.
You can have the best ingredients in the world but if they’re the wrong ones, it doesn’t matter. I love peanut butter, steak, and mayo. But I’m not going to put them together.
Like I said, the players
Words? How about scheme? How about preaching ball movement, moving without the ball and rotating on defense?
If the talent is not there than you must thing Danny should be fired no?
I mean, answer honestly. Is kyrie a ball movement guy? Not in his dna. Is Tatum a ball movement guy? Not in his dna. Is brown a ball movement guy? Nope. Is Morris a ball movement guy? Nope. Is rozier a ball movement guy? Laughable.
Make sense? It’s more about mixing the right players together because most of them a programmed a certain way by now. Words and scheme won’t change that.
Is Kyrie a ball-movment guy ? Absolutely No
Are Brown and Tatum ? Absolutely Yes, their respective games were destroyed by the on-court influence of Irving. Did you not watch last season or this season when Irving was a DNP - both guys were integral parts of a ball-popping offense.
Are Morris and Rozier ? Yes, they too were heavily impacted by the team conflicts and they are not as sure bets for being offense by the pass and cut as the others.
