Has there been a thread about this guy? How come he does not get recognition as one of the best coaches in the league? People rave about Popovitch, Spoelstra, and some others but I do not see much love for Kerr. What’s up with that?

Well, he did win Coach of the Year a few seasons ago.

I think he gets a lot of recognition.  At the same time, about 25+ coaches could have won titles with Durant, Steph, Klay and Green.  Maybe some hold that against him.

Pop was all Robinson and Duncan ,  he had two of the best bigs in history on the same team and Duncan healthy for like 17 seasons .  more lucky than anything .

I'll just tell you that I see lots of complaining on Twitter from GSW fans about Kerr.  They seem about as enamored of him as many Celts fans are enamored of CBS right now.
You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness—the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost.

Because Luke Walton coached them to an incredible record when Kerr was out.  Luke Walton is a terrible coach.

Edit: Found it Walton was 39-4 to start the year as the head coach while Kerr was out.  And that was the team before Durant joined (the year they won 73 and lost in 7 to the Cavs).

So I say again, how good is Kerr if Walton, who is a terrible coach, could do that?

lol I was waiting for this to come up. That is folks do not like to go on extended leaves from cushy jobs. The warriors made Walton’s coaching career.

Great if you consider Walton’s bad coaching could not undermine Kerr’s fundamentals....lol

uh huh and yet the players were coaching the team during games at some point.  I think Kerr is a fine coach, but he was coaching the most talented team in the league.  Any coach could have had that team winning a lot of games.  Heck they won 51 games with Mark Jackson and all the guys before their prime.

The last two years have been more telling on Kerr.  I think he is an average coach, not good or great.

He has been an all start coach, coach of the year...

I think the reason is when his stars go down he coaches teams that can't compete to win 15 games in a year.

Pops had the same problem when Robinson went down.  Part lack of talent, part tanking.

How much credit does Kerr get for developing Draymond Green?
