After Curry torched the 76ers for 49 points yesterday.  There are whispers that Curry should be the favorite to win the MVP.  There is also a possibility that, he would be the only 2nd player in league history to win the trophy without his team making the playoffs.

Who do you think is the early favorite to win the award?

I think it has to be the Joker at this point. Played all the games and is also probably his teams most valuable player. Putting up historic numbers.

I feel it's Curry. His team is weaker and his performances are meaningful against good competition. If that team makes the playoffs he has to get it. Nuggets are a solid team as is 76ers and Net. Warriors are mediocre in terms of a roster. I don't see Jokic seeing doubles at 3ft from half court. Give it to Curry.

Due to the injuries to Embiid and James and Harden's Houston stint I've basically eliminated the 3 of them.

Right now the clear favorite to win the award is Jokic.  I don't think it is particularly close.

Outside of Jokic, Giannis is 2, Lillard 3, and Paul 4 on my board.

I like Jokic never really liked Curry...but I  like his response to their challenging season and acknowledge he is fun to watch.

Oh I would vote for Curry

How could anyone conceivably pick Luka over Jokic?  I mean that seriously.  Jokic is better almost across the board statistically, has played more games, and his team is a lot better.  There isn't a realistic or logical way for anyone to conclude that Luka has had a better or more valuable season that Jokic.

Nah, not this year. Luka has been a stud, but Jokic, Curry, Giannis, Lillard and Embiid have also been studs, either on better teams or simply playing better. Some are doing both

Yeah, the argument is either Steph as the best guard or Jokic as the best center.  I think it's Steph -- he's playing on a team that with much of the same roster was a last place team a season ago.  This year, in the 8 games he's missed, they went 1-7, and lost by an average of 17 (even if you exclude the 53-point drubbing to Toronto, the average loss was 10).  He's taken that team from cellar-dweller to fringe playoff team.  If he continues his recent play for the final month, I think he's the choice.  Over the last 11 games (since he returned surprisingly early from his injury), he's averaged 40 points while shooting 50% from 3.  If that continues, his season-long average will approach being a top-15 all-time scoring season.

I'm going with Embiid. The Sixers have been a legit top tier team this season in large part to him taking that next step in his game. He was injured, but he didn't miss nearly enough time to impact his consideration for MVP.

Beal's numbers are better (except 3 point shooting) and the Wizards are 1-8 in the 9 games he missed.  Why isn't Beal in the discussion?  Curry doesn't belong in the discussion at all.
