"The proposed trade would move Tristan Thompson, Javonte Green and a first-round pick in 2022 to the Pistons in exchange for center Mason Plumlee and shooting guard Wayne Ellington."

And then we’d spend another pick to trade Plumlee away next year when we decided we didn’t like the two years, $16 million left on his deal.

Swapping Green and a 2nd for Ellington is fine, but the difference between Thompson and Plumlee is marginal at best, and I’d rather have Thompson’s contract than Plumlee’s for someone who would play 20 minutes a game for us, much less give up a 1st for the privilege.

Ooh, I like Plumlee. Not sold he is worth a 1st though.

Plumlee is quite a bit bigger than Thompson, so he'd be able to help us with bigger centers, and he's a genuinely good passer.

I'd do it if they did Delon Wright instead of Ellington, otherwise no.

It's a first for the combination of the two.

Isn't Plumlee making like 3 million a year less than Thompson?

Two guys worth second rounders don’t add up to one first, though.

More like $1.5 million a year less, with one year longer.

Yeah, I must of been adding the 1.5 together. Thanks for the correction.

not a fan. Plumlee doesn't sound like an upgrade over TT, especially with the way he's been playing lately.  I we're moving TT and a first, it needs to be for a clear upgrade

Meh.

Plumlee for Thompson just feels like a height fetish thing. He's bigger. Who cares. Very similar players. Plumlee passes better. Thompson is a more versatile defender.

Ellington for Edwards and a second rounder. I would do that.

The difference between Plumlee and TT is not worth a 1st unless it's heavily protected, and even then I'm dubious.

Two seconds would be a no-brainer

Agreed.  Ellington would be a good piece off the bench.  Don't like Plumlee's contract.

So Edwards plus a 2nd for Ellington would be a done deal, get it done DA.

We don't want Plumlee though.  If you're going for a big contract gotta get back a difference maker like a Vucevic or maybe a Jerami Grant.
