So Kevin Porter, Jr. has now played 2 games for the Rockets after a successful stint in the GLeague.  In those 2 games he is averaging 20 ppg, 9 apg, and 4 rpg.  Seems like he was worth taking a flyer on for absolutely nothing.  Missed opportunity.

18 FGA per game on poor efficiency, on maybe the worst team in the NBA.  His team is getting outscores massively with him on the floor.  And, I’m sure he’s still a headcase.

I'm sure he is a headcase, but he has talent and would have cost basically nothing to acquire.  Those are the types of risks you take because if they work out you hit a homerun, and if they don't you cut him and move on and you are out basically nothing.

Another one bites the dust.  Cousins was not good enough, Harden did not meet the standard, Beal? nope. Just who is good enough to be a Celtic? Grant Williams? Hell yeah he had the grades to get into Princeton. Jaylen Brown? Yeah, he is woke and he spoke at Harvard yah know. Celtics should just put out a list of requirements like this

1. He must play balls out.

2. He must have credentials to get into an Ivy.

3. Must be woke and a social justice icon in the making.

4. Cannot visit strip clubs

5. Cannot pal around with legit superstars in the league.

6. Cannot threaten the demure character of the coach.

7. Cannot threaten boy wonders Tatum and Brown, they are the future ya now.

8. Oh and he must come cheap.

At some point Ainge will have to decide if he his building an NBA team or a candidate for a mentor ship program for the Boy’s Brigade.

I am not that upset about this.  In the last game, he took 25 shots; was 1-9 from 3.  The Celtics are not in a position to be giving minutes to a player like this as an experiment.  Does anyone really want him taking even 10 shots a game for example against the Nets?  Do you really think that will help us win?  If you want to do that, just play Carsen Edwards and let him take 25 shots.

No, if he was on the Celtics, they would not and should not even play him.  Houston is perfect for him.  They don't even want to win or it could cost them a draft pick as I understand the complicated pick swap deal they have with OKC.  It is like summer league for Houston right now.  They can do all the experimenting that they want.

Danny always had the penchant for getting “reclamation projects” and I was surprised he didn’t take a flyer on KPJ. We had Nate Robinson, Marbury, etc. We’ve been aching for bench scoring and KPJ could have been perfect. Maybe Danny and Brad didn’t want to experiment this late into the tournament. It’s not like we’re the only team who passed on him. Kudos to Houston if he turns into something special.

May as well bring Jabari Bird back.  Oh wait, Porter is probably a bit more talented.

I just think it was a missed opportunity to add an immensely talented player at basically no cost or no risk.  Those are the types of moves that can pay huge dividends in the long run and is worth the risk (and isn't hindsight as you can see my posts in this thread about wanting to get him before he was even cut).  Porter is a clear head case, but he also has huge talent and would instantly be a rotation piece with a chance to grow into more.  Absolutely worth the risk.
