I have to bump this, for the mere fact that I am as tired as I've
ever been of trade threads, blow-it-up ideas, end-of-the-Celtics-world prognostications, screw Danny, Doc, training staff, Wyc, and even Tommy threads, and every other possible negative absurdity that can be conceived by Celtic fandom. It's there, every day, an endless barrage of pessimism and craziness grounded in the mere fact that we're in a slump and people need some kind of outlet to help them rationalize and create an easy excuse for this "down" time.
They
happen ... to
every team, and this team and city and franchise and fandom has seen far
far worse, and recovered from it successfully without "blowing it up" or selling our most loyal and die-hard players down the river, or trading away a fourteen-year veteran who has played for this team his entire career, or bashing every green-blooded representative possible just so we can have warm, fuzzy dreams of banner number eighteen every night our head hits the pillow.
I know this post will do absolutely nothing to change any of that, I know it won't stop the wheels of time or progress from making changes that I won't agree with, I know the negativity and obnoxious trade threads will continue, (and far past the trade deadline), I know the "bashing-the-scapegoat-of-the-day" posts will march on unfettered, and I know optimism is a far less popular and far less attractive or cool stance to take in this faux reality-based new technological world we live in.
That said, I'm not giving in to
any of it, and while so many will continue to go about the business of discouragement and (ha) "reality", I will stay my silly little course and keep smiling, knowing that the Celtics will remain the Celtics, that I will remain loyal to the core, that they will always be exciting and worthwhile to watch and root for, and that this is so far from the worst period in Celtics history that it's not worth even mentioning in serious conversation.
Just needed to say that, for myself, and that's what this thread is for, IMHO ... and I
do feel better. So, before you reply with negativity, please do it in a different thread, as such is not allowed here, and I can post my blind optimism here without impunity, (that keeps me smiling as well). Oh, and until the day comes, if
ever, I'm not wishing farewell to anyone on the Celtics roster ... they are Celtics until something happens to change that, and I thank them
all for their efforts, as always.
