I've been bouncing around the need for a PG and who/what we might need.

Rondo took a loaded team to a championship and although we may not the loaded, this team is still above average with GH/JB/JT/MS.

So, do we need a Walker type or can we get away with a Malcom Brogdon or even a Emanual Mudiay who just became an UFA, plus what we have already?

I don't want to spend the entire FA pool on Walker and I don't want him taking the shots that the others should be.  I'm more inclined to go MB or EM and still pursue Vuc.  All of this is pursuant to us not keeping TR.

I'd like to get Brogdon.  He's a super efficient player who really fits in with a team concept.  He's going to cost a lot less than Walker, he's younger, and we damage the Bucks if we steal him from them.

I am completely ok with starting smart at pg.

Ideally, if team had the correct center, hayward could play pf giving the team a secondary playmaker and ideally 4 stellar defenders. (Smart, brown, center)

Say we get Brogdon at 20-22 mil can we then absorb Capela without giving up much player wise? That would be intriguing.
Let’s go Celtics!!

I'd really like this team with those two if it could be done.  All the bases would be covered pretty well and we'd be a young team.  Just add a big who plays mediocre defense and can shoot 3's for low money.

You don’t “get away” with having a Brogdon. He’s crazy efficient, doesn’t make mistakes, and is ultra solid on D. People are sleeping on him imo. The Al Horford of point guards

Imo, we need a PG who thrives playing off the ball. Brogdon would fit the bill. Thing is, if we really want him, we have to overpay him. As much as I like his game, I'm not sure whether it would be worth going after him.

Yep, me too. We would still need a back-up PG though. I believe Danny is gonna re-sign Rozier. Personally speaking, I'd love us to go after George Hill. He's under contract for $18,000,000, but only $1 million is guaranteed if the Bucks decide to release him by July 1st. According to rumors, he's receiving interest from Indy, Dallas and Philly.

Another option I would like us to explore is Patrick Beverley. Smart/Beverley and Brown would arguably form the best defensive backcourt in the NBA.

the thing about the Capela deal is that Houston wants to clear salary without taking any back so they can take in Butler's deal.  I like Brogdon but think someone will have to pay top dollar to get him away from Mil -- to the point where I don't see enough $ leftover to also bring in Capela from Houston.

I do like the idea though of adding those 2 players if Danny can make the $ work without sacrificing any of our core youngsters.

Would have to drop yabusele to make that happen.

We have up to 34.1 mill available

Capela is at ~15 mill
Brogdon at 22 mill would be too much to fit.

Its possible, but we would have to dump yabusele for nothing.

34.1 mill space
3.1 mill yabu
37.2 mill available

Brogdon at 21 starting
Capela at 16.4 fpr capela
37.4 mill used.

(assuming we absorb Capela's contract with our cap space and we dump Yabu for cap relief)

1. Hayward $32,700,690
2. Capela $16,396,552 (Accoring to shamsports. According to hoopshype it's $16,896,552)
3. Smart $12,053,571
4. Tatum $7,830,000
5. Brown $6,534,829
6. Langford $3,454,080
7. G Williams $2,376,840
8. R. Williams $1,940,160
9. Semi $1,618,520
10. rookie min $897,158
11. rookie min $897,158
12. rookie min $897,158
Jackson $92,857

Total: $87,689,573

Hence, we 'd have $21,310,427 in cap space.

Is this gonna be enough to pry Brogdon away from the Bucks? Really don't know what to say. If I were the Bucks, I'd rather match offers for Brogdon and trade Bledsoe for cap relief + future pick(s). But that's just me.

Good convo here - thx for the replies...with the news of us really in the “lead” for Kemba I’m still intrigued by this Brogdon Capela possibility if no Kemba.
Let’s go Celtics!!
