Center-forward Larry Nance Jr. has signed a multiyear extension with the Cleveland Cavaliers, the team announced.

The Cavs did not disclose terms of the deal, but sources told ESPN that Nance's deal is for four years and worth $44.8 million.

Nance's extension gives Cleveland some flexibility in later years, descending annually from $12.7 million to $11.7 million to $10.6 million to $9.6 million in 2022-23, sources say, in a deal structured similarly to Kevin Love's contract.

A maybe from me. Rozier has been undeniably awful this season, and long-term doesn’t seem to fit on this team. Meanwhile Nance is a solid athletic big, who (small sample size this early, but still) has become a much improved passer, averaging 3 assists in under 20mpg.

I wouldn’t want to pay upwards of $10m a year for him though
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

PG: Terry Porter (90-91) / Steve Francis (00-01)
SG: Joe Dumars (92-93) / Jeff Hornacek (91-92) / Jerry Stackhouse (00-01)
SF: Brandon Roy (08-09) / Walter Davis (78-79)
PF: Terry Cummings (84-85) / Paul Millsap (15-16)
C: Chris Webber (00-01) / Ralph Sampson (83-84) / Andrew Bogut (09-10)

Honestly, maybe. Nance seems like he could be useful as a salary filler in a deal for a star.

I'd like another big, but who replaces Rozier?  We would need another point or combo guard who is good enough to be in the rotation.

I like the idea but we have a logjam of bigs already. Only Theis is expiring this year and we have to make room for Robert Williams.

As for Terry's replacement, there no need to. We can pick some Larkin level players for cheap. Smart, despite his lack of scoring provides more dynamics to the team than Rozier.

So we drafted a project in Williams so we can trade for Larry Nance Jr to take his minutes? No thanks. I don't hate Nance as a player but at $10 mil per, I think the money can be better allocated.

Not sure what to make out of Rozier right now either. Seems to be sort of trying to find where he fits in this rotation. I'd still keep him as Irving injury insurance though and see how it plays out in the summer.

meh.  I'd have to think long and hard about it.  if Rozier wasn't playing selfish, crappy ball this year it'd be a definite no.

tbh, if we traded Rozier I'd rather look into a better prospect if possible

Rozier is probably pressing a little because he's in his contract year but he's not playing substantially differently than he did last year.  His assist to turnover is still almost 4:1 and he's still shooting almost 40% from three and 80% from the line.

People trying to trade Rozier for Larry Nance but trying to "wait" for Gordon Hayward to be 100% are insane.

I'd do that from a positional need stand point as Boston could use a hustle big man, which is exactly what Nance is, and doesn't need the extra point guard.

That said I don't think either the Celtics or the Cavs do that trade.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

Nance got paid like he a surefire starter, but has a long way to go while Rozier already proved he can be effective.

What troubles me with Nance's game, even though I like him in general, is that he is not a 5 (can't defend the rim or control defensive glass) nor a 4 (can't shoot). And when you are a big with no clear position and you aren't as skilled, you are destined for mediocrity. I'd rather use Theis who is cheaper, better shooter, rebounder and rim protector with some ability to move his feet.

This trade would weaken us and if we are just looking to move Terry, which we are not, I am sure that better deals would be available.
