Also don't forget the rule changes guys.

Offense has gotten easier and easier, I definitely think that plays a huge part.  Shaq playing in the 60s would have been a COMPLETELY different story.

Also if Wilt managed to receive LeBron treatment in today's league he'd be going to the line 50 times a game.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

I have Dave Cowens listed as the third best defensive backup center behind Alonzo Mourning (first) and Ben Wallace (second).

And the best overall backup five (D.Cowens) in this fantasy game.

I don't think Wilt manages more than 15 boards a game. It's very difficult for a team's top scoring option to beat that average. Too much energy used + too many possessions where he isn't in prime position to get the rebound to beat that number.

I would expect Wilt to be in the 14-15 range rebounding wise per game. I'd also expect his minutes to be lower in the modern age than they were during his playing days which would also make it more difficult for him to clear that 15+rpg mark.

I think players like Ben Wallace and Dennis Rodman who have limited offensive games and aren't asked for much more than screen setting + attacking the offensive glass ... have a much easier time breaking that 15 rebound barrier. They can spend more time and energy getting in prime position for a rebound before the shot because they aren't important parts of the offense.

I would be looking at Wilt as a 28-32ppg + 14-15rpg type threat at his peak in today's league.
I wouldn't be that worried about the guy who averaged over 48 minutes per game running out of energy.
It's not so much his energy levels as it is that I don't think a coach would leave him on the floor for that long nowadays.

Look at Wade, just having fun, throwing the ole 14 pounder down the lane, not being a jerk. I miss those days.

Yeah before he started pulling down players in midair and trying to injure them.

Seriously, good thing you didn't pick him from this year.  He'd get the snot beat out of him for pulling that crap in this league.

He's been fairly incredible though. It's a shame Lebron was so poor in game 4, because Dwyane Wade played 48 minutes in NBA Jam mode.

Which centers can realistically limit Shaq during his superhuman year?

Disregard - I'm a little late to the debate, here. Reading back in the threads it seems to have been nuked already.

So, players / seasons that weren't selected?

A few guys I noticed (and I didn't have a big board or anything):

Mo Cheeks, 1986:  15 points, 9 assists, 54% shooting, 1st Team All-Defense

Vin Baker, probably 1997: 21 points, 10 rebounds, 51% shooting

Marques Johnson, 1979:  25.6 points, 7.9 rebounds, 54.4% shooting, 1st Team All-NBA

Carlos Boozer, 2007:  21 points, 12 rebounds, 56% shooting

Other guys who could fill a role:  Mookie Blaylock, Terry Cummings, Terry Porter, Dan Issel, Michael Redd, and one of my binkies, Jamal Mashburn

Anthony Mason had one incredible season. His career is unjustly overlooked IMO.

96-97: 16.2 points on .525 fg%, 11.4 rebounds, 5.7 assists

I would go with the rookie season for Marques Johnson.

Less scoring but a lot more rebounding. Phenomenal rebounding for a wing. Marques Johnson had an amazing playoff run (24.0, 12.4, 3.4 on 54% shooting) that season too.

Michael Finley's 99/00 campaign probably deserves mentioning too:

22.6 points on .457 fg%, .401 3p%, 6.3 rebounds, 5.3 assists, 1.3 steals

Connie Hawkins, Dan Issel, Gus Johnson and Jo Jo White

Those were the some of the others that stood out to me that were not selected.

Oh sorry, Dan Issel was already mentioned.

Yeah, I was thinking Jo Jo and Johnson, too.  I totally overlooked Hawkins.
