Look at the box score.  Too many missed threes (RAY!).  Unbelievable FTA difference.

Otherwise we outplayed them.  only 9 TO's.  I don't think you can blame Doc for what looked like Ray breaking that play.  They had to go to KG though after PP went out, and didn't enough.  But the FT's are what killed us.  So many bailout calls for the hawks.  Half of PP's fouls came on poor blocking fouls (easily could have been charges) and that phantom 6th foul.

I for one am firmly confident of a game 7 win.  And all you people angry about losing to the lowly hawks, fair enough, but come'on they play the games for a reason.  It's a seven game series for a reason.  If we win 4 and they don't, we go on, and we'll see what happens next round.  Its a lot easier to get behind a winner, the real fans stay around through the tough losses.

Hawks shot over 20 more fts including a double digit advantage in the 4th. Pierce fouls out on a phantom call. Refs cost Boston a win tonight.
Jumpshooters don't get to the foul line. Period.

It was actually pretty even taking it to the hole. The C's shot 29 layups to 23 for the hawks. The C's shot 49 jumpshots to 43 for the Hawks. Atlanta is a good team give them the 20 more freethrows at home and they beat the C's by 3.

Why was Joe Crawford reinstated? Probably had to swear to Stern that he would make sure the C's lose.

The saddest thing of the night.  Rondo bringing that ball up at the end of the game and none of the 3-pont shooters moving toward him to get the ball.  Talk about lack of courage.  That made me sick.

There is no excuse that a 66-win team cannot beat a 37-win team on the road in three straight games.  This team is struggling and could well lose on Sunday.

Atlanta is a better than 37 win team imo with the addition of Bibby...that said yes they shouldn't be at a game 7 in round 1, but I don't see them losing Sunday, not at home, not at full strength

Heck I'm even unsure we will win game 7.
Starting to have that (wierd and unnerving) perfect storm feeling going on right now

Caltics will pull it out.

We need a real coach 1st and foremost.  Second nobody wanted to step up and take a shot.  Three I'd like to see some T.A. playing time along with a few for House.  Fourth we will not be beating Clevland, that is if we beat Atlanta if we can't win on the road.

Serioulsy I'm getting sick of this as I'm sure all of you are.  Doc supporters need to man up and admit he's a complete moron when it comes to important games.  He's a good guy but a bad coach. I just don't get it why screw up your rotation in the playoffs when it was so solid throughout the whole year?  Oh and another thing I love PJ Brown but he is to old to be out there and it clearly shows.  I mean when I'm screaming we'd be better if Scal was active you must be pretty bad.  He just doesn't have it anymore.

On the Pierce foul, I thought it was a foul as he grabbed that Ogre Zaza but it shouldn't have been called.  Tell me if Lebron or Kobe does that would they be whistled for it like Pierce?  I think not.  If the refs are calling a game like they have been then Doc needs to somehow get a brain and tell the C's to attack the bucket and give up the three's.  I'm just sick to my stomach over this its unreal.  Even if we do win I'm in serious doubt about beating Clevland.  Heck I'm even unsure we will win game 7.  I hate to say this but it seems the ATL fans are way more into the game than the Boston fans are, but it may be the tv.  The Hawks are do for a good game in Boston.  Let's just hope its next season that they are do for a good one.   :-\

Cleveland did us a favor by beating the wizards. D west and Wally won't be blowing by Allen like Joe johnson has. Nor do they have the athletes that Atlanta or Washington has.
Either way the celtics need to follow these premises:
Drive to basket= good, Jumpshot= bad
defense=good, No defense= bad.
So easy even tony allen can understand. Not that he'll play.

Yea but Cleveland has proved that Lebron can win a series by himself.  If We can't stop Johnson how are we going to stop Lebron?

It's not a 36 win team anymore.  It's a young athletic team with a veteran PG, a stud 2 guard and a rising superstar in Horford.  They're not deep, but this actually was the worst possible matchup for the C's of all the potential 8 seed because they're very athletic and Ray Allen is starting to show his age.

As angry as I was after game 4, they actually showed some composure down the stretch.  I think they win Game 7.  But this team is NOT winning a title this year and is NOT ever winning a title with this coach.

Not subbing Sam for Rondo when you need a 3 and don't have Pierce available to me is off the charts on the dumb coaching scale.

We should have won this game.

We took 13 more shots than they did.

We made 5 more field goals and 3 more 3 pointers than they did.

The rebounds were pretty even (35 to 38 Atlanta) and we committed less turnovers 9 to 12.

We should have won this game and this series should be over.

i wish these guys would get a little angrier DURING the game. clearly it isn't happening after the games because they would have won game 4. the fact that they need to come home and win is disgusting and says A LOT about doc and the veterans of this team.

doc said the team was "still confident" after the game and keeps harping on some fouls...i really wish he said KG flipped over the post game buffet and threw gabe pruitt across the locker room.

the hawks are something like 12-17 since they got bibby.

Alot of those layup attempts came from offensive rebounds. The C's took alot of short jumpers rather than go all the way to the basket. They avoided contact again tonight rather than seek it out like they did in game 5.

2007 Dallas      2008 Boston

C-  Dampier             Perkins       Offensively Challenged big men
PF- Dirk                Garnett       Jumpshooting 7 footers
SF- Howard              Pierce        Slashers
SG- Stackhouse          Allen         Jumpshooting specialists
PG- Harris              Rondo         Young quick pgs with poor jumpshots

Now compare the 2007 Warriors and the 2008 Hawks. Someone tell me this is not scary.

You're reaching, Dallas went down 3-2 and had to go into one of the toughest arenas to play in for Game 6 on the road.  The Celts have yet to lose at home, and have a Game 7 at home.  It makes for a good story because of the 1-8 thing, but at no point have the C's been in trouble or behind in the series the way Dallas got completely outplayed last year and fell behind going on the road for an elimination game in Game 6.  I guess fans should not even go to or cheer in Game 7 since it should never have gone this far.  If the Celts win and move on, how many games it took will mean absolutely nothing.

Everybody EVERYBODY needs to watch the postgame after a tough loss.  Tommy is always so composed, he has a way of calming down the whole situation.
Needless to say, I'm still p---ed and let down, big time, but I'm at peace with it.

I hope they lose Game 7. Maybe this is a knee jerk reaction but maybe we shouldn't have traded for KG and Ray. That way, I'd still be used to losing and wouldn't be stressing out even more during finals. It's torture, first they tantalize us with excellent play early on, and now they just can't get it done.

I hope thats a knee jerk reaction or you're just wasting your time following the team - the ups and downs are part of being a loyal fan - bandwaggoners get the pleasure of jumping on when the team is hot, jumping off when the team stinks and only caring when times are good - this series is a good test of our fans and many on this blog are showing their true devotion at this point, we've been through the good, the bad, the Carr (err ugly), and we'll be fans Monday whether its waiting for Cleveland or waiting for Godot - I know in the world of sports anything can happen, that's what makes it fun and heartwrenching and amazing... if it was a foregone conclusion the c's woudl sweep their way to the title, it'd be a tiny bit boring - lets watch them persevere, pull out game 7, abuse Lebron, beat detroit, kill Kobe, and get green 17...that's my perfect world, I hope it happens, and I'll be with them no matter what.

That was pathetic.

Did not enjoy that one bit, his teammates left him out to hang on that play.
