In this modern age of the nba of pace and space, 3 point shooting, length, motor and athleticism , he must believe the best way to combat and compete with those traits is the go with the opposite.

Short, unathletic, poor shooting bad motors and genuine overall phsical limitations.

Have a look at your team everyone. Drink it it.

Smart/edwards/waters
Brown/langford
Tatum/hayward/semi
G. Williams
R. Williams

Maybe Williams will work as an undersized pf who lacks explosive athleticism and ramge on his jumper in a league where the opposite is true of everyone at that position.hes strong.

Maybe langford will get a shot that he has never had after that injury from last year heals. Very possible that a 1 year injury effected his shooting all through highschool. Perhaps his motor will change now under stevens and he becomes dedicated to defense and playing hard on offense.

Perhaps Edwards becomes a stellar defender and a far superior playmaker

Perhaps waters hits a nice growth spurt.

One can hope that there is a big trade lined up involving Hayward for a bigman and the capspace is used on bigmen.

We basically have to pray that Langford finds a jump shot. Otherwise the team drafted players that will be 9th or 10th man on the team (if we are lucky).

lol you keep banging the drum for a Hayward trade. No one is giving us anything of value with that contract til he proves himself again. One can dream, I guess.

What’s your point? The new NBA calendar year hasn’t even started yet.

He’s obviously going after bigs in FA or a trade.

As to Langford, I don’t get the claim he isn’t long and that he’s  unathletic.

Langford is long for his position - essentially same dimensions as Jaylen. It’s true he doesn’t have plus leaping ability, but it isn’t minus either, and he has some plus movement abilities - watch how much ground he covers on his step-backs. To me his question marks are elsewhere.

It's really depressing. Maybe we should stop mentioning it?
It surely ruined my day.

Not sure I get this post, at all.

Marcus Smart has great size for a guard. Granted he's not super quick but he is very strong and a good two foot leaper.
Jaylen is one of the best athletes in the league, seven foot wingspan.
Langford is big for a guard, again near seven foot wingspan. He is very fluid, has an excellent first step. Not a huge leaper but he's not a liability there either.
Tatum has all sorts of length, he's not an elite athlete but he's at least average for the SF.
R Williams is an elite athlete with elite length.
G Williams I will grant you, undersized and ground bound. But he's a late first intangibles guy.

I think the problem you really have is the complete lack of big men on the roster, and the guys who will probably play power forward (G Williams, Tatum, Hayward) are either a little short or lack bulk. But we arent done yet, and the rets of the team is pretty long and athletic.

You aren't meant to get it. It's an irrational hot take

Because there are players at 14 and early 20s that can replace Irving and Horford?

We really want a GM that reaches for a position instead of the top players left on list?

Silky, you're all wet on this one.

Langford was a top high school player. We got good value on him.

If you were looking to replace a 27 and 33 year old in this draft, you set yourself up for disappointment. Most every player after 14 is a project or has a deficiency.

Yes, it would have been nice if we drafted Zion, RJ, Deandre and Hayes. Just wasn't very likely.
