Doody PrizeEdgar - Isaiah "Cringe At The Name" Thomas, Sacramento Kings: 7.3/0 = -7.3 Recap: I've got to admit, as I just watched
The Truth pass
Larry Bird to become the second all-time
Celtic scorer, (has Larry commented yet, I wonder?), I was as choked up as I've been in a long time. This is a guy who has spent a large chunk of his career carrying a mediocre-to-fair team on his back, being one of the few things that made many of us keep watching through the "lean" years, and being the epitome of
Celtic Pride during the post-big three era. He really didn't start getting much of the credit he deserved until winning the Finals MVP Award in 2007-2008, and this will add to that amazing legacy of ultimate hustle, hard work, talent, selflessness, and heart, (it's a shame that
Thomas felt his typical low-class need to try and ruin the moment ... a pretty immature move on his part).
I've been a fan of this team for literally as long as I can remember, (growing up in a household that was as loyal to Boston teams as any, and basketball first and foremost), and while
Larry Legend remains (IMO) one of the most exciting players ever in green to watch, there has never been and will never be another
Celtic player that is as special to me as
Paul Pierce, or one that embodies
more what being a member of this organization is all about. The only other times I remember being as emotional about a sports event as this was (#1), the '07-'08 Championship and his getting the MVP Award, and (#2), watching him come onto the floor two weeks after almost dying from eleven stab wounds in the night club assault ... that pretty much said it all about his character.
Anyway, as I watch the replay now on CSNNE, (missed it live again), it feels like this team has turned a major corner, as we are now either first or second in almost every defensive category, the bench is starting to gel and play as a cohesive unit with the starters,
KG is elevating and moving as well as he has since his inaugural season in green, and these guys have finally gotten back to the principles of
UBUNTU and playing like a
team. I really believe this team is experiencing a renaissance of sorts, and that we're going to finish this season much more dominantly than most people expect. The new guys have really bought into what Doc is preaching, and the older guys seem more resilient than they have in the last couple of years. Bring on the Fakers, baby!
Anyway ... a very sweet win by our team, and a great night for
Big Ticket with 22 points and 7 boards, and
Rage with another double-double, (which was kind of lost in the hubub). Not the best of nights for
PAPOUG, but still a couple of nice scores with
Drew Gooden once again in the winner's circle and pulling down win number
five for my good friend
Misha ... nicely done, Bud! I have personally come to the decision that I will expect nothing more than the doody record this year, and will count myself
extremely lucky to make it to the playoffs, (man, I am sucking it up big-time!).
One TP paid to
Misha for the win, (eight owed),
one TP paid to
GreenFaith1819 for the nice second-place score, (three owed), and the
Doody Prize paid to
Edgar, (
Celtics picks always get TPs from me as well).

** Note: When you make your pick, please try to check and make sure you haven't left anyone out ... sometimes when picks are made close together, the previous player is missed. If you see a duplicate pick, or a pick that is injured, or no game that day, please alert the person who made the pick to their mistake. Also, please make sure your pick has played ten games if using this year's stats - some players' teams have played more than ten, but the player hasn't ... you may be selling yourself short. Thank you kindly! ** For those who may not know, to copy any form "cleanly", (so you don't get the green boxes), just click on "Quote", (above, beside "Modify"), remove entire quote sentence at top of message box between [brackets], (starts with "quote", ends with long number, including brackets), remove [/quote] at bottom of message box also, then copy and paste what's left to a new reply, and add your info.
