Figuring that Delonte will miss games due to injury, Rondo could likely use a blow if they run a shortened season, and depth at PG is never bad anyway, I think signing a cheap but minutes-worthy backup PG is pretty important because depth could be a huge factor this season (if it happens).  For stability's sake, It would be nice to lock someone up for more than one season at backup PG, especially for cheap cash.

So...who do you like, how much and how long, and why?  These are my top 4 favs.  Add others if you like.

I'm going to say keep Carlos Arroyo if possible. Continuity, knows the system...etc. The backup to the backup to the point doesn't need to be amazing since he's just going to play a few minutes while the starters rest and provide an insurance for the worst case scenario. Arroyo is good enough to provide that and doesn't need the minutes so Bradley can (hopefully) develop.

Acie is in Europe, signed with Partizan Belgrade and no, he's not required to come back if the lockout ends.

I think Ford is probably the best, but someone (Miami) might go for him at MLE money.  Wouldn't spend MLE money on a PG.

Boykins:  too small for playoff ball.

I'd take Telfair for whatever, if anything, might be left of an LLE contract for up to 3 years.  He's proven to be a minutes-worthy solid backup PG.  I think he can do reasonably well at spot-up 3's, too, and can run a half-court 2nd unit offense reasonably well.

Pencil in one for Telfair, the only cheap option that allows Rondo some rest this season, too.

I know he's shakey but I wouldn't mind seeing Telfair back in green. If we just need a reliable backup 3 I think he would be great. In 19 mins. he averaged 8 pts. 3 ast. and almost 2 rebs. along with a +6 efficiency. He would IMO be better than Arroyo.

I'm clueless on cap space and the works but aren't we close to our cap already? I would put my priorities in our center woes first if anything...

Avery Bradley should be more than ready to step up as a back-up point guard.

agreed
here is what i'd rather
rondo, backup west....3rd string marquis daniels, love to have him (healthy) as a near end of bench buy
very surprised with the job he did as pg both offensive & defensive
he could also be 3rd string sf and give us minutes at sg

avery bradley to me has to prove pretty quickly he can do SOMETHING or he's gone

Depending how large the roster is (I remember some rumors of them shrinking), and that he would come for the vet minimum, I would be very interested in Ford.  I think he would be an excellent backup to Rondo if he is healthy.  Of course, that is the rub, he can't stay healthy.  But, for the vet minimum, I would give him a shot.

No interest in the other guys though.

While I obviously hope you are right, I think the evidence does not point this way.  For the most part, Bradley has looked completely overwhelmed when on the court, and the lack of a summerleague, and getting cut in Europe is not going to help his case.

Anything you get from Bradley next year really needs to be looked at as a bonus.
