Brooklyn Nets guard Kyrie Irving said Saturday night he does not believe he did anything wrong in promoting an antisemitic film and book on his social media accounts.

Speaking for the first time since he posted about a movie called "Hebrews to Negroes: Wake Up Black America," Irving made it clear he was not going to "stand down" on what he believed in despite Nets owner Joe Tsai and the NBA both releasing statements condemning Irving's decision.

"I'm not here to argue over a person or a culture or a religion and what they believe," Irving said following the Nets 125-116 loss to the Indiana Pacers. "Nah, this is what's here. It's on a public platform. Did I do anything illegal? Did I hurt anybody? Did I harm anybody? Am I going out and saying that I hate one specific group of people? So out of all of the judgment that people got for me posting, without talking to me, and then I respect what Joe [Tsai] said, but there has a lot to do with not ego or pride of how proud I am to be [of] African heritage, but also to be living as a free Black man here in America, knowing the historical complexities for me to get here.

"So I'm not going to stand down on anything that I believe in. I'm only going to get stronger because I'm not alone. I have a whole army around me."

Next week:  Kyrie gives Mein Kampf a five-star review.
"Did I harm anybody?" is an interesting question.

Kyrie would have loved Henry Ford :P

OMG, he just keeps making it worse.

There were incidents of antisemitism in Jacksonville, referencing Kanye being right. I think “cancel culture” might be a response to hate that spreads like a wildfire.

I don’t understand how Kyrie can’t see that he has an influence on society.

He is a moron.

"Did I harm anybody?" followed up by "I have a whole army around me." So, he acknowledges his influence, yet thinks his promotion of bigotry is harmless.

Well, at least the NBA doesn’t care.

I wonder, if Gordon Hayward linked to a story advocating hatred toward Muslims, would the league do nothing?

I’ve been ignoring Kyrie & Kanye as much as I’m able to - DH Peligro died, which is much more on my radar in terms of bad news - but what do you mean the NBA doesn’t care Roy?
Man had always assumed that he was more intelligent than dolphins because he had achieved so much—the wheel, New York, wars and so on—whilst all the dolphins had ever done was muck about in the water having a good time.

But conversely, the dolphins had always believed that they were far more intelligent than man—for precisely the same reasons.

Peligro dying is a horrible tragedy.

Kyrie's still playing games.  Has he even been fined?

If Gordon even got caught wearing a Fox News tshirt he’d have to hold a press conference and apologize to the team and fans, like the Oklahoma State coach did.  The hypocrisy when it comes to this stuff insane

No idea - everything I know about this topic I’ve learned in this thread.

I just roll my eyes at this. They are "upset" but no one is doing anything about it. Even last year the Nets probably tried very hard to get the Mayor to change the rules with vaccines so that Kyrie could play games with Brooklyn even though he was unvaxxed

But whatever. They can have fun with Cryrie and Benjamin Simmons.

Good article on the Nets struggles by Ray Ratto, also touches nicely on the Lakers’ current problems.
