Just curious what has happened to Kiorrik?

It almost looks like Kiorrik‘s profile has been deactivated.

Dirk's gone. And will be for years. Maybe forever.

Fü(k this place. Deleting my account.

Best of luck.

This is really a shame. People get too carried away over this stuff. The Celtics are going in the Eastern Conference finals, this is the place to be. I hope you reconsider

I'll take a TP, thanks

The political section isn't for everyone.  I like to read but barely post.

Me too. But I respect that he didn’t want to engage anymore with the CE section.
Man had always assumed that he was more intelligent than dolphins because he had achieved so much—the wheel, New York, wars and so on—whilst all the dolphins had ever done was muck about in the water having a good time.

But conversely, the dolphins had always believed that they were far more intelligent than man—for precisely the same reasons.

it's understandable.  I quit the CE section because I found it so infuriating that I wanted to ditch the site.  trying NCE status to see if I still want to stay.  seems to be just a few individuals that drive the toxicity -  one  person in particular seems to be the primary cause of long time posters leaving

echoing the sentiments of others in this thread, i too miss Kiorrik's posts, his insights, and his thinking.

at the same time, i usually avoid the threads here at CS that focus on politics. my politics are just so different that i neither relate nor agree with the philosophies that underly most posts.

my solution? i almost never go to threads that focus on politics. i even stay away from CS for days or weeks at a time for many reasons. those approaches help me to enjoy the basketball parts of this site much more.

O Kiorrik, Kiorrik, wherefore art thou Kiorrik?
Deny thy politics and refuse thy threads.
Or if thou wilt not, be but sworn my poster.
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

It almost looks like Kiorrik‘s profile has been deactivated.

He got upset over some political issues and then quit.

He got upset that a few people didn't fawn over HIS political views.

I don’t think that’s true.

I think Kio is somebody who is greatly empathetic to the suffering of others.  So, I think he got frustrated by some perceived callousness when others were more willing to accept hundreds of thousands of deaths as collateral damage.

But, there was a lot more that went into his departure than the CE forum.

His contributions are missed, and the door is always open for him to come back.

I think both can be true and to take sides between is itself pushing a political view. Just my 0.02. And I don't even know what the issue was, but I know how hostile the majority of this board can be to certain views I agree with. Which is why I completely avoid CE.

Isn’t the insinuation here that people that disagree with him are not empathetic to the suffering of people?

Really, he just comes across as intolerant. I really do like Kiorrik, he seems like a good dude overall, but let’s call a spade a spade.

Since it was my statement, I won’t insinuate:  I do think that many people lack empathy when it gets in the way of their political views.  My personal view is that the world doesn’t care enough about protecting life in general.  That spans both political parties.
