Unreal.  Bridges pled no contest to one misdemeanor count of DV today.  Three years probation, no jail time, $500 fine and $300 in restitution.

Why would they offer him that deal?  That's nothing.

I’m guessing his wife (gf?) is getting a large settlement and asked for prosecutors to settle so she could move on.

I don’t see how the NBA can let him step on the court this year, but I expect Charlotte will resign him next summer.

Most likely the victim declined to testify.

10 year protective order among all sorts of other conditions. They have to use a neutral 3rd party to transfer the kids when it is the other's turn to have custody.

Also this regarding the victim.

We believe this resolution was the best avenue to hold Mr. Bridges accountable for his conduct," the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office said in a statement. "We also understand through the victim's representatives that the victim wanted an expedited resolution of the case. The victim and her representatives were consulted about the proposed resolution and agreed with the outcome of the case."
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

Waiting for people to say the victim did this in hopes of Bridges getting future large contracts in the NBA so she can get taken care of monetarily in the 7 figure per year range for the next decade or more. You know it's coming.

The NBA announced Friday they suspended former Charlotte Hornets forward Miles Bridges for 30 games after the league conducted its own internal investigation into Bridges' domestic violence arrest on June 27, 2022.

Because Bridges didn't play at all during the 2022-23, though, the NBA "deemed" 20 games of that suspension have already been served and he'll only miss 10 games if he signs with another club.

So he’s getting credit for 20 games served, even though his own criminal actions made it so he was unemployable?

Ya, what's the rationale behind that 20 games served?  He's not even under contract with anybody, right?  That seems pretty ridiculous.

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

Taking inspiration from the way the NFL punishes abusers I see
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

PG: Terry Porter (90-91) / Steve Francis (00-01)
SG: Joe Dumars (92-93) / Jeff Hornacek (91-92) / Jerry Stackhouse (00-01)
SF: Brandon Roy (08-09) / Walter Davis (78-79)
PF: Terry Cummings (84-85) / Paul Millsap (15-16)
C: Chris Webber (00-01) / Ralph Sampson (83-84) / Andrew Bogut (09-10)

There should be something built inside a man not to hit a woman.

Seems like the rule of law came up short here. It feels like it will be up to society to inflict just punishment for this crime. If an owner gives the player money, it feels like a green light for that behavior. Similar to when the Cowboys green lit Greg Hardy years ago. If he doesn't latch on to a team, then all 30 are in lock step against DV. If a team signs him, you know where they stand.

We all have our opinions. My dad gave me the belt too. I ended up thinking a man shouldn’t hit a man, and certainly not a boy, a girl, or a woman.

Strength has very little to do with muscle.
