December-15th-ship-the-anti-semitism-out-of-the-northeast-mega-trade:

BOS In: Kawhi
BOS Out: JB, Gallinari

LAC In: KD
LAC Out: Kawhi, 2027 LAC 1st, 2029 LAC 1st

LAL In: JB, Kyrie, Simmons
LAL Out: AD, Westbrook, Beverly, 2026 LAL 1st, 2028 LAL 1st

BKN In: AD, Westbrook, Beverly, Gallinari, 2026 LAL 1st, 2027 LAC 1st, 2028 LAL 1st, 2029 LAC 1st
BKN Out: KD, Kyrie, Simmons

Downside is Kawhi may not be back to normal until the playoffs. Upside is that we’ve got one of the top 10-15 players in NBA history come playoff time, and no more Kyrie-related drama.

Brooklyn immediately unloads AD, Beverly and Curry for more draft capital. The tank job for Wembanyama begins.

Best of luck to both LA teams, who both feel better after the trade. Everyone feels better after this trade.

Our eight-man rotation come playoffs:

Smart/D-White
Brogdon/D-White
JT/Batman
Kawhi/Batman
Timelord/Horford

Bench: Pritchard, Hauser, Griffin, Buyout Vet

Klaw is not cooked. He just needs a little more time and a change of scenery. This is the prime time to scoop him up with a mega deal that gets everyone talking about the NBA. Mr. New Balance belongs in Boston with JT and Timelord. That’s a new Big 3.

Gross.

I wouldn't send Hauser out for Kawhi at this point. What a liability.

LAL doesn't have those picks regardless.

What’s gross is JB’s continued defense of Kyrie. Sick of it. Ship him out before he walks for nothing like Kyrie before him.

The rumors of Kawhi’s demise are greatly exaggerated: In his return, Leonard was +26 in a 5 point Clippers win. Kawhi is still the best defensive wing in the league by virtue of his 99.9th percentile BBIQ. He just needs some time to shake off the offensive rust.

of course it features your 2 constants: trading JB at any cost and acquiring Kawhi for an overpayment.   ::)

Kawhi isn't half the player he was in Toronto.  JB is an all-star.   you're swapping out top talent for a washed up player on the hope and a prayer he plays up to your memories of him.  trade idea is horrid on too many levels to bother detailing

JB is too close with Kyrie to hope and pray he doesn’t leave us for nothing, just like Kyrie before him. That’s the hope and prayer we cannot afford to take. In contrast, Kawhi is New Balance’s flagship athlete and 100% committed to building a legacy as a top ten NBA player. With access to the best doctors in the world if he goes to Boston, Kawhi will be in tiptop shape by April. That brilliant defensive mind is completely intact. When they doubted him in 2018, he showed them all by becoming the King in the North and the first (and probably only) NBA player to ever lead a Canadian team to the title.

You're living in 2018. It's nearly 2023. Kawhi is a 10/5/3 guy who plays less than 25% of games. He is so much worse than Brown it isn't even funny.

every trade idea you throw out is the same -- made up justification to trade JB to get your injury-riddled, washed up binky.  give it up.

as for this "New Balance’s flagship athlete" --> this has got to be the most ridiculous thing I've ever read as a reason for thinking a player is great.  add in your hopes and dreams that Boston doctors can miraculously save Kawhi's athleticism as opposed to LA doctors.

Honestly I am out on Kawhi until he strings together even half of a season, and contributes in the playoffs. As echoed above, it's not 2019 anymore.

Taj Gibson looked pretty active for Wash against the Hornets on Sunday night.  He is better than the 3 third centers we have now.

Below are six trade ideas to move Diet Kyrie before it’s too late to get a decent return or, worse, we watch him walk for nothing.

Notes:
1. See posts above for ideas to land Klaw, my truly desired replacement for JB.
2. Ideas involving Gallinari and Griffin cannot happen until 12/15 and 1/1/23 respectively.

Idea 1

BOS In: KD
BKN In: JB, Gallinari, Griffin, multiple picks (BOS)

Commentary: Giving up some late picks and trading JB for KD. Net win for us if KD is onboard with finishing his career as a Celtic, which ought to be the case given his ties with Horford, who is the proper friend for KD compared to Kyrie. Brooklyn can turn around and ship Kyrie/JB somewhere out West, or commit to Kyrie/JB long-term. Why not help those brothers team up again?

—————————

Idea 2

BOS In: Wiggins
GSW In: JB, Gallinari

Commentary: Wiggins is signed long-term and is now a defensive star who, on balance, is probably a perfect swap with JB (JB being slightly better offensively, but Wiggins with the edge on D). Warriors need a spark and may be open to making JB their future. Win-win for both JB and the Celtics, which would be something to feel good about.

—————————

Idea 3

BOS In: Scottie Barnes, VanVleet
TOR In: JB

Commentary: Possibly giving up some late picks and trading JB for young, cost-controlled Scottie Barnes. Enables us to start Brogdon at the 2/3, and maybe ship VanVleet for some big depth. Toronto may hesitate without a strong guarantee from JB to stay beyond the remainder of his contract. JB may love the idea of becoming Mr. Canada, though, and perhaps can convince them to bring in Kyrie next? Probably a break-even for us.

—————————

Idea 4

BOS In: Mikal Bridges, Crowder
PHX In: JB

Commentary: Bridges is a potential DPOY on a long-term/relatively cheap contract. Crowder adds significant depth at the four, familiarity with our core, and could potentially re-sign. Suns would hesitate if they don’t think JB will stick around with Booker the next decade. Probably a break-even for us. Biggest benefit is we’re telling JT it’s his team alone now. That said, this puts a lot of pressure on Brogdon to step up on offense to replace JB’s production since Bridges surpasses JB’s D but falls short overall.

—————————

Idea 5

BOS In: AD
LAL In: JB, Gallinari

Commentary: AD’s injury-prone but on a long-term contract, and we wildly desired him 3-4 years ago. He could be absolutely dominant with JT/Brogdon/Timelord/Smart. Possible to lose this trade, but it could become a big win if AD follows Horford’s lead and stays healthy well into the future. AD would definitely have a huge chip on his shoulder, which could motivate him to return to 2020 form.

—————————

Idea 6

BOS In: Anfernee Simons, Nurkic
POR In: JB

Commentary: Potential option after 1/15/23, this adds that big depth/long-term replacement of Horford in the form of Nurkic and adds an exciting, dynamic, young two-way guard in Simons. I’m in love with this kid and could see him eventually surpassing JB’s contributions on both D and O. Am guessing Portland only does this if JB is a long-term guarantee as the successor to Lillard.

This would probably seal the deal for Portland/Lillard if Brooklyn agrees:

BOS In: Anfernee Simons, Nurkic
POR In: JB, Kyrie
BKN In: Jerami Grant, Gary Payton II

Even though I am listing this as idea six, I think this one has the potential to be the biggest win. That’s how big I am on Simons.

Other ideas out there?

Another idea for after 1/16/23, but I doubt OKC would go for it unless they really valued the idea of JB/Kyrie paired with SGA, and all those young players/picks to build youth around their new Big 3:

BOS In: Giddey, Holmgren, Dort
BOS Out: JB, all remaining picks/swaps (BOS)

BKN In: Some of the above picks/swaps (BOS), Muscala, Nwaba, Sterling Brown, Kenrich Williams, Bazley, Pokusevski
BKN Out: Kyrie

OKC In: JB, Kyrie, Some of the above picks/swaps (BOS)
OKC Out: Giddey, Holmgren, Dort, Muscala, Nwaba, Sterling Brown, Kenrich Williams, Bazley, Pokusevski

We would be going all-in with Giddey, Holmgren and Dort to replace JB. After Holmgren is back, we would be totally ten-deep assuming we re-sign Horford and Grant Williams:

Smart/D-White
Giddey/Brogdon
JT/Dort
Holmgren/G. Williams
Timelord/Horford

If Holmgren just becomes a serviceable starter, that’s a title contender for years to come so long as JT values being the highest paid basketball player in the world above all else (fingers crossed he never leaves us).

—————————

Another idea that would be interesting if Houston would prefer to build their franchise around JB rather than Jalen Green:

BOS In: Jalen Green, Eric Gordon
HOU In: JB

It would suck taking on Gordon, but Green could eventually be better than JB and he would certainly be cost-controlled for many years as JT’s version of Robin.

—————————

Last but certainly not least is probably the deal the NBA would like to see most of all since it brings the promise of renewal to LeBron’s Lakers—and it would be a clean trade for all involved:

BOS In: AD
BOS Out: JB, Vonleh

LAL In: JB, Kyrie
LAL Out: AD, Westbrook, 2026 LAL 1st, 2028 LAL 1st

BKN In: Westbrook, Vonleh, 2026 LAL 1st, 2028 LAL 1st
BKN Out: Kyrie

Basically Brogdon becomes the replacement for JB in our backcourt and we dramatically improve our frontcourt whenever Timelord, AD and Horford are all healthy:

Smart/D-White
Brogdon/D-White
JT/G. Williams
AD/G. Williams
Timelord/Horford

Bench: Pritchard, Hauser, Griffin, Kornet, Gallinari, Davison, Jackson

—————————

So that’s nine ideas altogether, plus the prior ideas for Kawhi. I’m not seeing a deal that makes sense with the other 20 teams, though.

Other ideas?
