Why for Houston?
Gets a solid PF who can spread the floor and play good on-ball defense. Also gets a guard who can play with Harden or Lin, play solid defense, and shoot the 3 ball at a good clip. Both players have a good deal of postseason success as well. Morey also puts one of the Brooklyn firsts in his stash.

Why for Boston?
Boston adds a starting caliber center who will fit in well next to Olynyk or Sullinger.
*CB Miami Heat*
Kyle Lowry, Dwayne Wade, 13th pick in even numbered rounds, 18th pick in odd numbered rounds.

Yeah, that's not happening. Howard doesn't like playing with Bass. Also, Lin has long ago been benched in favor of Patrick Beverley.

You'll have a better chance trying to peddle Bradley and Humphries for Lin and Asik. They need a PF who can start, and someone that can back up both guard spots. I also don't think they particularly need three point specialists, given that they have Garcia, Casspi and Brooks already.

still lopsided in our favor. Lee's contract is bad. Bass is still a backup PF.
Drop the pick and add in Sully.

Sorry Celtics fans, but we can't get a top 5 Center for overpaid role players. As much as we like Bradley, Sully, KO and Rondo, we have to give up someone to get someone else.

Bass,Sully, and Lee and a 2nd rounder
Humphries,Sully and Bradley
Wallace,Bradley and Sully
Can't stop, Rondo!

Asik is not a top 5 center. And these are all packages designed to fetch a much higher-profile player.

http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/230716/Rockets-Unlikely-To-Quickly-Find-Trade-For-Omer-Asik-With-High-Asking-Price

Quote

The Houston Rockets are engaged in trade talks with multiple teams on Omer Asik, but the asking price of Daryl Morey has been far too high for a deal to get completed.

Asik's agent has been in regular contact with Morey about facilitating a trade.

The Rockets are seeking an impact frontcourt player that can help them in the short-term, or a largely unprotected first-round pick in the 2014 NBA Draft.

A deal involving Asik is unlikely to be consummated before December 15 when players signed in the offseason become eligible for trades.

The Rockets are interested in trading Asik to the New Orleans Pelicans for Ryan Anderson. Anderson previously played with Dwight Howard during their time together with the Orlando Magic.

IMO, no way should we be giving up Bradley and Sully for Asik.  Sully is close to matching Asik's best year right now, and Sully is coming of the bench.

You guys are WAY overestimating Asik's value to us.  There may be other teams willing to give up everything and the kitchen sink, but I don't think DA is.  Danny is going to look for more of a star player if we are giving up our good young players.  Asik would have made sense when KG and PP were still here, on his own he isn't helping us that much.

Not a big fan of paying a player like Asik the money he is making when we are trying to not tie ourselves down to much.  And when maybe our two best young prospects are bigs.

Especially giving up a first to do so.

what about a 3 team trade

Pelicans get: Humphries and Sullinger

Rockets get Ryan Anderson and Rivers

Celtics get Asik and Motiejunas

Tell me more why you want to acquire Motiejuna. My initial reaction is that Motiejunas is extremely similar to Olynyk except that he plays a more conservative role on offense and a rocks a much more conservative haircut.

If we're going to pay market rate for a center, I want one who shoots FT well enough to not be a liability at the end of games.  Plus you have a (hopefully) a cornerstone player coming on board next season and have no idea who that will be.  This is cart before the horse.  Get the foundation first, then add the complimentary types around them.

I just look at it as a chance to add 4 inches to Sullinger.

Anderson complements Howard well.  Sullinger compliments Davis probably.  Celtics get bigger.

I dont care who we draft.  I dont think Danny would be looking for a 4 or a 5.  Probably a 2 or a 3.

If you could add 4 inches to Sullinger, you'd have Brook Lopez only meaner. That would be badass.

I wouldn't sell out Sully just yet.  He's still learning how to play as an NBA 4.  He'd actually be the last one on this roster that I'd trade.

I would kick the tires on a third team involved and our very own expiring contract of Bogans and that trade exception.  They get who every they want with the TE for Asik and a pick.  That TE is very valuable.   Which they can shop around for another player.
