BlackBerry to lay off 4,500 employees

TORONTO (AP) — BlackBerry says it will lay off 4,500 employees, or 40 percent of its global workforce, as it reports a nearly $1 billion second-quarter loss in a surprise early release of earnings results.

The stock dropped 19 percent to $8.50 after reopening for trading. Shares had been halted pending the news.

Quite the announcement to make on a day of the new iPhone release. What Blackberry needs to do going forward is adopt the Android OS and concentrate on hardware. They've always made a heck of a phone.

TP's have become the biggest joke on Celticsblog! All they tell now is that is play you games on here and cheaply pad your stats. I've wagered away over 1000 TPs on here thinking they would be easy to replace by sharing interesting, relevant or funny content or with an insightful comment.  Not the case anymore around here.
