Important players usually don't play in Carling Cup till the finals.

I think it's not about major leagues but more about major clubs from those leagues. Players from teams like United, Milan, Chelsea, Barca... also play in Champions league and qualification tournament for national teams, so most weeks they have to play two times. When you do that season after season it wears you out.

This year, Chelsea and United played their stars in most rounds of the Carling Cup. I still think a winter break is necessary in the EPL. Managers and players alike share this view. The only people that don't are the clowns in the office of the FA.
Christmas football is kinda tradition in England. I agree that it's not the smartest thing to do.

I wish we could see Cafu, Rivaldo, Ronaldo, Ronaldinho and Kaka play together..and Romario too....Brazil is a fan's dream come true. This current time is not the best Brazil has put forward..but they can certainly go deep. Their South American rival, Argentina, can make a deep run too.

Under Dunga Brazil will turn into fan`s nightmare. The best players in the roster are defenders , that has got to say something.

Giuseppe Rossi must be not that happy these days about choosing Italy over US. He could have been a sure starter in this WC, but instead will be watching it on tv like the rest of us.

Agreed.  This country was good enough for his family to move here and work, but not good enough for him to play soccer?  I was pumped when Rossi was left off that roster and I hope he never makes a world cup team.
do it

Here we go guys, only one more day!!!  I am getting so pumped up.  ESPN has a World Cup Preview right now, followed by a USA Preview followed by the World Cup Concert.  Then tomorrow morning it all begins.  I strongly everyone watching the first game tomorrow since the place will be CRAZY!!!  Here is a video that I really like.

Why is an article on ESPN's front page pretending there is something special about the US-England matchup? That whole rebellion thing is long gone. I'm not aware of special soccer history between the 2 countries. The hype seems silly, but I am pretty soccer ignorant.

US-Iran would be a lot more "classic" considering geo-political issues.

Does England care about the US in soccer?

This is better than the US advancing in the confederations cup while Rossi's squad didn't make it out of the group. Hopefully he'll be left off the next cup as well.
