Bad red card

You have to feel sorry for the player. He'll miss the Final now.

I was wondering why you guys were not
following the Confederations Cup.
Some pretty strong teams in there.

Well, I hope USA will be able to hold
on in the 2nd half for the upset.
What is the point of the Confederations Cup? I'm just curious if this game has any significance.

The most significant part is that we're beating spain. The cup doesn't mean as much as the fact that the U.S. is thrusting themselves into the spotlight with the World Cup coming up next year.

This is fantastic.  First they took down Italy and now Spain.  I'm watching it over here in Barcelona (the only American with all Spanish roommates) and though they were giving me a hard time in the beginning, I'm the only one smiling now.  Yeah, it doesn't mean much in the scheme of things, but perhaps this signifies the USA taking an even greater leap in the soccer world.  Their defense was fantastic tonight.

Do countries have all their top players in this cup?

Just to clarify, I've been sucked into the hype in the past.

Yep, Spain had their full roster, if anything the US was missing more players due to injury.

I'd just like to say, for the record, since I started this thread with the US up 1-0 early in the game, that I am officially not a jinx. At least not today...

Absolutely!!

Great achievement indeed, no matter what cup was that for, Spain is the best European team atm and you beat them!! Congratulations!! ;)

Confederations Cup is used to get the host nation (South Africa) of next year's world cup ready for the tournament.  The field consists of each of the six FIFA confederation championships, such as European, South American, Asian, African, etc. and then the host nation, and the reigning world cup champions.

All the teams bring their legit players.  HUGE victory for the U.S.!

You know this is probably true, Brazil is obviously expected to wipe the floor with us.  That being  said, I expected the same thing when the US team was gonna get crushed on the onset of the Italy game and again tonight they were surely gonna lose...but this team is really surprising everyone right now.  I think its great you feel so confident, I'm sure Italy and Spain felt confident too...

I`m just kidding. Brazil always find problems playing against USA. Last time was a aberration. IF we beat South Africa tomorrow, we will meet you again this sunday.
And we gonna defeat you again. Brazil X USA in soccer it`s just like USA X Brazil in basketball...very predictable.

PS: USA do not beat Italy, lose 3-1. USA beat Egypt...
