I'd say Thomas will never be back to his best when he was with Celtics so lets say he is 75% of his former self and Brooklyn was to get the 1st pick in the draft would you still do the same deal?

Since when was the BKN pick netting us Bagley, Ayton or Doncic?? Because that almost certainly isn't going to happen
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

PG: Terry Porter (90-91) / Steve Francis (00-01)
SG: Joe Dumars (92-93) / Jeff Hornacek (91-92) / Jerry Stackhouse (00-01)
SF: Brandon Roy (08-09) / Walter Davis (78-79)
PF: Terry Cummings (84-85) / Paul Millsap (15-16)
C: Chris Webber (00-01) / Ralph Sampson (83-84) / Andrew Bogut (09-10)

If you read the topic sentence it was a 'worst case scenario'. I just wanted to gauge people opinions if hypothetically Brooklyn won the lottery would you still be happy with the trade.

75% of IT isn’t an NBA player. That’s not really a “worst case scenario”.

But if the question is Irving vs. All-Star (but not All-NBA) IT + 1st overall pick + Crowder, plus my doctors predicted that IT had multiple good seasons in him without the hip deteriorating ?  I’m taking the package deal.

I take Irving. Crowder has Evan Turneritis in that he was only good under CBS.   I was laughing the other day how people here thought he was a top five small forward.   He was not here, and is not in CLE.  Zizic has project written all over him and looked slow here.   IT is the X factor, will he recover, Ainge seemed to think no, and he is usually right.   The pick was hard to lose.

But one can't gauge this until IT comes back and if he can play or not.   Right now, I think we are winning the deal.  But I for one, do not blame Kyrie for the lack of bench scoring.   I know here think he is responsible for all our woes.

Can't choose 75% of IT here, so I trade fewer pieces to get Damian Lillard.

Why do you keep bringing up Lillard and why do you think Portland is looking to get rid of their franchise player? He would not cost fewer pieces. He would cost at least as much as Kyrie did...and that's only if they had any desire to sign IT to a huge contract (Note: they already have huge salary issues). They aren't going all-in like Cleveland is this year.

75% of IT isn’t an NBA player. That’s not really a “worst case scenario”.

This seems like the ultimate best case scenario. Guaranteed multiple seasons of All-Star IT and the #1 pick - yeah, I don't know why anybody wouldn't go with that option.

Because Lillard is even available? Why would they even consider trading him?

I would argue that Ayton on his own > Irving

Ayton + IT + Crowder (on a bargain contract till 2020) + Zizic + Miami's 2020 2nd round pick >>>> Irving

Having said that, chances are that Ayton/Doncic/Bagley won't be available with the Nets pick.

I was being facetious. I bring up Lillard because I wonder if he would be as good as Kyrie if given the same opportunity.

I mean he pretty much is as good as Irving right now.

If the pick ends up #1, youve got to prefer the package.

Lucky for us, that doesnt look too likely at the moment.

Too early to tell.  Need to see IT return and get some games under his belt, and for the teams in the bottom 4-10 in the NBA separate some so we know more where Brooklyn and LA stand.

But I was pro-trade when it happened and pro-trade when it was in limbo, so I'll stay pro-trade now and probably for the foreseeable future, unless that pick does yield Ayton/Bagley/Doncic.
