What does this mean for Lebron? He's always spoken highly of IT, so maybe this is a last ditch attempt by Cleveland of keeping him there. I'm sure he's a fan of Jae, too.

But, man, their D is going to be even worse now with IT in the mix. It'd also provide Brad a go-to permanent mismatch to plan against. No matter who starts of Kyrie, Brown, or Smart, IT would get absolutely killed on post-ups by Smart and Brown or isolation ball by Kyrie.

Man, opening night would be LIT if this happens!

If this trade keeps LeBron in Cleveland Ainge already lost it.

I would be ok with IT4/Crowder/pieces not Taytum/Brown/LAL/NYN picsk for Kyrie.  I would not like it but I would be ok with it.  Anything including Taytum/Brown/LAL/NYN picks would make me sick.  Cleveland HAS to move Kyrie so DA should draw a line in the sand.

EDIT: Or is this just a big plot by Cleveland and Boston to get someone like Phoenix to pay up? It'd make sense, because it'd benefit both Boston (weaker Cleveland team) and Cleveland (better young players and assets for Kyrie) if Kyrie went to Phoenix.

You have to do this deal. You can't pay IT a max deal at his age. Irving is still under contract for 2 years. Giving up one of the top picks will be necessary so the Cavs have some assurance.

At some point rooting for a team has to be about more than just the pen and paper ... you root with your heart.

I'd rather root for IT.  Plain and simple.

I watched Paul Pierce and KG get traded. At this point, I'm ready to root for whoever's in the jersey.

I loved those guys, but the team was going nowhere at the time and those guys had reached a point where all they could be was role players.

IT is a superstar and the heart and soul of this team.

Are we winning a title with Kyrie?

Nope.

People love to talk about how IT has fast tracked Boston's rebuild, but fail to acknowledge just how much Brad Stevens and his system has helped IT reach the next level. IT was a sixth man scorer off the bench when we acquired him, obviously he put the work in, but I'm salivating over the idea of adding a 25 year old perennial all-star to this squad.

Keep in mind as well, no way Ainge is talking this trade without backing from ownership and Brad Stevens.
