Lol ESPN is actually making the case that the Lakers should rest Lebron + AD tomorrow and tank to avoid playing Denver in the first round

What’s even funnier is that LAL is a miserable 1-7 against the Kings and Warriors this season, so winning that play-in game is far from a given.

I've been waiting for the news that this is why the C's took yesterday off.  So they could send Tatum, Brown, White, Holiday down to the G-League for today's game.

Random question, but could a current player like Tatum, Brown or someone be "sent down" to Maine and actually play with the logic being "rehab" or something  :P

That'd give us a big advantage lol, though obviously a tad risky with the playoffs coming up and health

I had that thought and had nominated Jaden Springer since he could use the minutes.

Patriots / Football / Re: Poll: Which QB Option is the Best?

It is amazing how hard it is to judge QBs.

This is why it doesn’t matter who the “experts” like or don’t like. No one knows.  Half the experts will be right on Maye and half will be wrong - and next year they’ll all claim to know who the best prospect is in that draft.

My dream scenario would be that Brady confides to Kraft that he’ll come back 6 games in. The Pats trade for AJ Brown, select Alt with number 3 (possibly trade down) then grab another WR prospect. Bolster the line with later picks.  Brady probably falters (has to happen eventually right?) but how much potential fun would next season be?

We can debate about Daniels and Maye but I got to be honest, I really don't see it with McCarthy. He can be a decent QB I guess, maybe slightly better than a Mac Jones but not by a huge margin. It's obvious he's getting a ton of hype and buzz because there are a handful of QB-needy teams. I actually would prefer Penix over McCarthy if given the choice between the two.

Ultimately... as of today I think I would keep #3 and use it to take Drake Maye or Jayden Daniels. Yes I'd still pick Daniels at 3 if Commanders take Maye and he's available despite some of the risks.

The only way I trade down is if a team gives a godfather offer (3+ first round picks and/or a star player like a Jefferson in package), or if the Pats decide to trade down, and then trade back up into the 5-8 range to take someone like McCarthy. I can talk myself into that scenario even though I'm not high on McCarthy myself. Taking him at 3 though feels idiotic but again, just my opinion.

I finally got some time to look at film on the main Patriots considerations, Daniels, Maye, McCarthy.  I am no expert.  I played football at a small HS in NH, starting linebacker.  So I have no qualification or credibility to judge QBs.  But based on what I saw, I don't think Daniels has a very strong arm.  Everything looked like a touch pass.  Everything had loft, not zip.  I don't know what the experts are saying about arm strength, they probably have far better tools to measure that, but I didn't see it.

After that, trying to compare Maye and McCarthy, based on highlight reels, is really hard.  I will say that Maye was a little more reckless with his throws (maybe more than a little) but he made some strong throws that I don't think McCarthy could make (and certainly not Daniels).  McCarthy was solid though.  Seemed to have plenty of arm, plenty of athleticism.  McCarthy has been moving up based on buzz (although not on this poll).  If the Commanders take Maye, I think I would be fine with McCarthy, probably take him at 3 vs. trying to trade down and get him or someone else later.  If they take McCarthy, I definitely take Maye over Daniels.

But if the Commanders take Daniels, as expected, then it gets tough.  Mel Kiper says Maye is the home run, but he is wrong as much as right.  Hoge doesn't like Maye, doesn't seem to like any QB, but he had Trubisky (from UNC also) ahead of Watson and Mahomes in 2017 (maybe that is why he is gun-shy on Maye).  It is amazing how hard it is to judge QBs.

I'm on my way back from Boston (Celts last night, Sox today) and I'd 100% be up for Maine tickets.  My wife vetoed, haha.
