I don’t mind if we’re down a player or two for this game.  We know the starting lineup can dominate anyone, so giving some other combinations a chance in a big game is a good benchmark, and we don’t need a little ding in November being exacerbated to something that lasts weeks or months.  Put Al and Hauser in the starting lineup and see what happens.

Honestly if one of JB or KP can't go, I'd just sit them both. It's a long season and health is important

Ehhh, the 76ers are on the second night of a B2B so even without one of JB or KP this game is still very winnable. And it might matter for the tie breaker. So I'd still be going for it.

You'd hope so but it was a home B2B so they had the luxury of avoiding travel.

Wife and I were talking about taking the kids out to Boston for a home game. I just don't know if I can pull the trigger on it. How sucky would it be to pay the small fortune to make that trip and the game is basically conceded because of load management.

I wonder if eventually this will start hurting teams.
Still don't believe in Joe.

Indeed. We've got to know how players will perform when put in a bigger role. Injuries especially during playoffs occur all too often. Hauser has been amazing, but can he hold his own against starters? And if Kornet is promoted as the back-up big in absence of Porzingis (or Horford) can the Celtics survive? Also Brissett is going to get minutes I suppose whom I believe Stevens has counted on as a rotation player.

If it's true and Embiid is not playing I'd sit Zinger and possible JB as well pending how sick he is.  Maxey may score 60 but without Embiid it will be tough for Philly.

Celtics games are always* fun, and unless you pick one in early April you’re probably going to see most of the starting lineup, if not all.  I went to game 82 when we rested everyone and it was still a blast.

*Except in the postseason where some fans get really cranky.  Those are less fun.  Nothing past the first round for me any more.

It definitely is partially load management, but I definitely feel like there's gamesmanship as well. In the scheme of things, these games only matter on the off chance they're needed for a tiebreaker. I don't know if the Celtics want to give the Sixers more experience playing their full lineup, and on the Sixers side they are on a b2b so they have a convenient excuse.

If the NBA wants everybody to play they need to change the system. Punish teams that limp into the playoffs with crappy regular season records more severely and reward the top teams more. The problem is, this benefits the younger teams and younger stars. If you still want to market older stars like the LeBrons and Kawhis and Warriors of the world, this current system works for that.

Both Jaylen Brown (sick) and Kristaps Porzingis (right knee contusion) will miss tonight’s game vs. the 76ers on ESPN, the team says.

Lovely. Can’t have anything nice. Hopefully Embiid is out, too.

At least Jaylen didn't ask his neighbor Kristaps to help him water the plants.

The consolation is that neither is serious.

People here do realize it's not just the C's, but teams are pretty much continuing to load manage guys right? Tonight there's no Kyrie, Giannis, Brown, Porzingis, maybe no Lebron and/or AD as well tonight.

Even Embiid is a "game time decision", I assume he'll play but no one is 100% certain yet

I wonder if Q plays with KP out?
