Is the Kemba/Rozier S&T finaled yet? I see no reference to it anywhere.

Yes, the Celts pick up the lower of the NY/Brooklyn second rounders next year in the deal.

So, 32, LOL.

If Kyrie gets a boo boo, it could be a high second rounder and we know the Knicks will be bad as well. 😁
What was the incentive for doing a sign and trade? Seems like a mid 2nd round pick. What was the point?

To get a 2nd round pick for free.

According to this https://www.masslive.com/celtics/2019/07/boston-celtics-officially-acquire-kemba-walker-in-sign-and-trade-for-terry-rozier.html, we are swapping 2nd round picks.  So, it seems like a swap of our 2nd rounder for Brooklyn's.  Totally insignificant return in retrospect.  After thinking about this, I think we agreed to do a sign and trade because it left us some chance of re-signing Horford.  But after that ship had sailed, we didn't want to renege.

Our 2nd is protected — not sure how much protection is there, but it wouldn’t surprise me if we ultimately kept it.

We did the sign-and-trade for two reasons:

1) Maintaining NBA relationships — we helped Charlotte fill a void from Kemba, and helped Rozier get a good contract.

2) To give us a chance to negotiate with Brooklyn and/or Philly for a larger sign-and-trade.

Sources: Lakers intend to start LeBron James at point guard

LAS VEGAS — The new-look Los Angeles Lakers are heading into the 2019-20 season with the intention of starting LeBron James at point guard, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

James, 34, will be entering his 17th NBA season and is prepared to become the floor general in an effort to maximize a roster that’s suddenly built to contend for a championship with the addition of All-Star forward Anthony Davis and a few complementary pieces.

James, a four-time league MVP, and newly acquired Danny Green are expected to start in the backcourt, sources said.

James was limited to a career-low 55 games in his first season with the Lakers because of a groin injury, but he has since recovered and is in great shape with no restrictions, sources said.

A superstar with an immense skill set, the 6-foot-8 James has started at the point sparingly throughout his career. But it’s a role he’s more than comfortable handling because he’s operated primarily as a point-forward for the bulk of his career.

Rajon Rondo, Quinn Cook and Alex Caruso are the other point guards on the roster. Lonzo Ball, who was traded to New Orleans, and Rondo handled the role last season.

https://sports.yahoo.com/sources-lakers-intend-to-start-le-bron-james-at-point-guard-184422305.html

KCP and Danny Green to start on the wings. KCP to defend PGs. Green to defend top wings. LeBron to take easiest defensive assignment on the wing. That could work well defensively.

I like LeBron playing PG offensively. It is what he does best.

They could also swap in AB for KCP in this scheme, especially against smaller PGs.

Mavs and Grizzlies talking trade for Andre Iguodala
by Mike Fisher

DALLAS - The Dallas Mavericks' long-standing desire to shed themselves of Courtney Lee has manifested itself in a trade offer from the Mavs to Memphis that would send Lee and a second-round pick to the Grizzlies in exchange for veteran standout Andre Iguodala, sources tell DallasBasketball.com.

The Grizzlies' so-far response, DBcom has been told, is that they are unwilling to take on the ballast of Lee's $12.759 million salary in such a deal.

OKC, to this point, has offered nothing enticing enough to seriously  interest Heat in Chris Paul talks. Heat won't close door if that changes, but this is OKC trying to move Paul, not Heat actively pursuing player

The @NZBreakers are trying to convince Joakim Noah to play in Australia's @nbl next season, league sources say, with Breakers owner Matt Walsh -- Noah's former collegiate teammate -- leading the recruitment

The reality for the Breakers is that Noah has received NBA interest this summer from teams in search of frontcourt depth and is said to be taking a very "selective" approach about where he plays next season at 34 after making a successful comeback last season with Memphis

Well Korver is a terrible defender, so it's not like he automatically helps a team by joining.

Yeah, he's also 38 years old, will be 39 by the time the playoffs start. There's not much he can do except stand out on the perimeter and shoot.

He also really was not a factor in playoff games last year. I don’t think he really helps any of these teams except in a last minute situation where they desperately need a three (but you don’t really want to waste a roster spot for that)

He's only going to get vet minimum from any of the three teams so they can just cut him if they need the roster spot.  If  not Korver, who else do you sign?  It is pretty much the bottom of the barrel on available free agents.  At least Korver has an elite skill that is coveted.  Would you rather have Korver or J.R. Smith?

While I've not been huge on the tanking display that Philly engaged in for so many years, I have to say that they really have needed to make good decisions along the way (knowing that you can't make all the right ones).  And the obvious struggle for non-LAL teams is that you can't count on players choosing to come your way, or remain with you.  They've done well and if they should end up playing LAL in June I will be rooting like crazy for them.
