What do you think Derrick White is worth?

Just thought I'd ask what contract people would be confident handing to Derick White. Note that 4/120 is about his max extension you can offer this Summer, anything more than that and you have to wait until Summer 2025. I left all values over 4 years since that seems like the length it will end up being. 4/200 is about his max in summer 2025.

This is what you think he's WORTH, not what you want him to get or think he should get.

Some comparisons. 4/100 is Jerami Grant  type money money. 4/120 is about Tyler Hero money. 4/140 is about what Darius Garland or Ja Morant will make over the first 4 years of their deals. 4/160 is Kyrie Irving type money. 4/180 is around Trae Young type money. 4/200 is what Damian Lillard and Bradley Beal are making.

Obviously these aren't perfect comparison as in some cases these players salaries were limited by years of experience. And some were shorter than 4 years. But a good place to start.

The thing is Holiday was just sort of up first. He had a option for this summer, so he's a free agent sooner where as White is still under contract next year. They also probably talked with him about the contract WHEN they traded for him, usually teams worth something out before a trade. So the circumstances just sort of mean Holiday was going to get done first.

I could live with $40mil a year or thereabouts.

I think he’ll take the extension but with an option year.  I also expect a trade kicker of 15% will be added in, which will help him get closer to his market value if he’s subsequently traded.

Lookin at his play this year (especially lately) I think he's an easy 22-24 PPG scorer on most other teams.  He is starting to remind me of Manu Ginobil in that he quietly puts up huge scoring numbers and is clutch as hell.

Definitely $40m. But I think they would strongly consider giving him a max if someone else offered it to him. It would still be a tradable asset. Wyc better get ready to pay $640m for this roster

DWhite is awesome and his value can continue to increase with a championship. He's not as talented as Donovan Mitchell, but he's a more complete player. He's worthy of a max. White can be the best player on another team, as he was tonight.
