I heard strain too, which is better right?



Sprains refer to ligaments (i.e. MCL or ACL sprain), strains refer to tendons and muscles (i.e. quad strain). One is not necessarily better than the other.

I thought that strain was a stretching while sprain was more of a fraying. Shrug.

Sprains and strains have grades (Grade 1 strain, Grade 1 sprain) the level damage is classified by grade.

Copy that.... do they need MRI to be sure?

I was hoping that it was less serious because it's a strain - since ACL and MCL strains are always terrible ...  :-\

Depends on how he presents and what the trainer's manual exam shows. May not do an MRI if the team is just being cautionary.
