Just as a reminder the Original Dream Team was

PG - Magic, Stockton
SG - Jordan, Drexler
SF - Bird, Pippen, Mullin
PF - Malone, Barkley, Laettner
C - Robinson, Ewing

A great team, but under modern rules I really think my 12 would have a great shot at running and gunning them out of the gym.  Also, the match-up problem that James at PF poses would force the old guys to go small and play Pippen at PF to try and guard him, which cuts out a lot of the physical strength advantage the old guys have.

PG - Paul, Wesbrook
SG - Harden, Bryant
SF - Durant, Anthony
PF - James, Duncan, Love
C - Howard, Davis, Aldridge

Deep bench - Curry, George, Cousins

Harden matched up with MJ? LOL. MJ would score 50.

even though Bird was past his prime at that point, no one else on the Dream team was.  Dream team soundly beats whatever 12 players the current NBA would trot out there.
depends, are we playing under modern rules or the rules of 1992.  The 92 team would struggle with the much greater finesse required in today's game and similarly today's team would struggle with the physicality of the game in the early 90's.

As for my 15 man roster I'd go

PG - Paul, Westbrook, Curry
SG - Harden, Bryant
SF - Durant, Anthony, George
PF - James, Duncan, Love, Aldridge
C - Howard, Davis, Cousins

I think that team with its speed, quickness, and outside shooting would pose a lot of problems for the old guys under modern rules.

Normally, I'd agree that swapping players from other eras changes things, but I still think eja hit it right on the money.

I think the original dream team would succeed under any rules.  3 of the all-time greats on the same roster on that team.  a finesse game with Magic, Bird and Jordan would let them get the most out of their BBIQs to pick apart the new group.

have the new guys play under the old rules and I think the old guys just beat on them all day long.

Chris Paul/Russell Westbrook/Rajon Rondo
Kobe Bryant/Paul George/James Harden
Kevin Durant/Carmelo Anthony
Lebron James/Aldridge/Love
Dwight Howard/Anthony Davis/DeMarcus Cousins

ran out of ideas, but that's my main rotation

I think a healthy Kobe is better off starting vs MJ cuz I don't think George or Harden will fare well against MJ offensively or defensively.

In my honest opinion, I think the power forwards on my list will just be destroyed (beside James) by Barkley, Ewing, and Malone

Small forward position is interesting

Point guard position is also another interesting duel. Stockton vs Paul I want to see

now THAT I'd love to see.  refs would commit suicide because as we all know, Lebron never gets called for a foul (because as he himself stated, "I know how to play.  I don't commit fouls") and MJ cannot be stopped without someone fouling him.

So who is Harden guarding?

Bird? Laughable...
Malone? Impossible...
Magic? Please...

Harden can be a bench scoring boost, but he couldn't start in this "game"

Yeah its pretty sad if Harden is a starter and I agree there is no one for him to come close to guarding.

Depends on what the lineup is.  Say the old guys have both Pippen and Bird in the game because how else are they going to guard Durant and James?  Then on the other end Harden takes Pippen.  I think he could do ok against Pippen (or Mullin and maybe Drexler).  Crunch time Kobe would be in the game as I think he still has enough juice to be an effective player in lower minutes.  Or maybe Duncan is out there instead of Harden and the new guys go huge with James at SG since James is likely guarding Jordan anyway.

I think you guys are seriously underestimating the lineup difficulty that Durant and James together would cause the old guys.  It would force them to have weird lineups out there or suffer incredible mismatches.  And under the new rules where you can't hand check and a lot of the physicality is removed, I don't think they would be able to effectively guard James and Durant (I mean Bird in 92 was about shot, he would have no real chance to guard Durant, but there would be no one else for him to guard).
