update for this week

Standings as of 3/21/19

Memphis pick --  #7   --  (protected top 8 )
Games Behind    Current Wins   Games Left   Last 10
Dallas                     1                      28                    11              1-9
Memphis               ---                     29                    11              6-4
Washington          +0.5                  30                    10              5-5
New Orleans         +0.5                  31                     8               3-7
LA Lakers               +2                    31                    11              1-9

--> surprise, surprise.  Memphis is playing inexplicably well enough to climb past Dallas and gaining quickly on Wash and NO.  Lakers are playing so badly they're now in the mix.  A certain someone posting in this thread is going to be feeling very pleased with themselves this week (and kudos to them for sticking with their opinion on this).

Kings pick -- #14 -- (protected if top 1 - becomes Sixer pick if #1)
Games Behind    Current Wins     Games Left    Last 10
Orlando                     1                      34                      10                 6-4
Sacramento             ---                     34                      12                 3-7

-> Kings are really fading.  playoffs are pretty much done for.  now they're falling back to the rest of the lottery pack with Orlando on the horizon.  wish this decline had started a couple of months ago when I thought it would.   Orlando still has a shot at the playoffs - trailing MIami just 1.5 games so they have a reason to play hard.  Sac could fall to #13 pre-lottery now.

Clipper Pick #18   --  (tied with OKC and SAS) (protected  top 14)
Games Behind    Current Wins     Games Left    Last 10
OKC                          ---                     42                      10                 4-6
LA Clippers              ---                     42                      10                 8-2
San Antonio              ---                     42                      10                 9-1
Utah                       +0.5                    42                      11                 7-3
Boston                    +1                       43                      10                 6-4

-->  Clips pick doesn't look to improve past #18 but now they're bunching up with several teams that depending on how everyone finishes out the year, could see the pick possibly as bad as #22.

Boston Pick --  #22
Games Behind    Current Wins     Games Left    Last 10
OKC                         1                      42                       10                 4-6
LA Clippers              1                      42                        10                8-2
San Antonio             1                      42                       10                 9-1
Utah                       0.5                    42                       11                 7-3
Boston                  ---                       43                       10                 6-4
Indiana                 +1                      44                       10                  4-6
Portland               +1.5                    44                       11                  6-4
Houston                +2                      45                       10                  8-2

--> Don't ask me how but despite blowing 2 winnable games this week, C's draft slot worsened by 1.   A lot of teams really bunching up as we come down the homestretch.  C's could legitimately wind up as low as #18 or, if they get their act together on the court finally, as high as 25 (provided everyone they're bunched with ends their season poorly).  Only 2 teams around them playing as bad as the C's are Indy and OKC, everyone else seems to be ending the season on a high note so I really wouldn't be surprised if the C's pick comes in at 20.

Second Rounders:
Boston (protected 31-55)

Second rounders
Boston - #52
It's not going anywhere.

The team with the least likely odds to win the NBA Draft Lottery was the 1993 Orlando Magic, who had the 11th-best chance to win. The seventh-, eighth- and ninth-worst teams have all won the lottery once since 1990.

No reason the Celts can't be the 1st 13-14th seeded at the draft

to obtain a top 2 pick

;)

Grizzlies rested Conley and blew a 14 or 15 point fourth quarter lead before losing in OT

Grizzlies lost to Minny, tied with DAL for #6 now.

Charlotte within 2 games of Sacramento, Orlando within 1 game (in the pick race)

Picks 6-9 separated by only 1 game. (Memphis pick)

Boston doing what they can to raise their own picks value

Lakers won and Pels lost, so that's good news too.

Conley listed questionable against OKC tonight (soreness), might rest again tonight for the third time recently (3/3 OKC, 3/22 ORL)

Wouldn’t be surprising to see him sit out one of the next B2B @PHO @LAC 3/30-3/31

Conley ruled out. That’s three games missed due to rest in March now. Should be one more this week on the upcoming back-to-back

Also, Go Orlando right now vs. Philly. Chance to catch SAC and get their pick up to #13

14. Bol Bol
18. Brandon Clarke
23. Kevin Porter Jr.

Good mix of high upside and a sure thing in Brandon Clarke.  No idea if Clarke and Porter will be available at those slots but this would be my ideal outcome.

Looking really good like that Memphis pick will translate.

And now, I am starting to hope that if the impossible doesnt happen that the Sacramento pick jumps to pick 2, I hop the hawks win pick 2.

And then I hope Danny trades up for it.

I can see Atlanta trading pick 2, for picks 9 and 14 and maybe a player swap.

Atlanta has Young, Prince and Collins all locked up for a while, they have the Dallas pick, and adding another 2 lotto picks really allows for them to load their team with youth and assets....much like Boston did. Allows them to stay locked in for years under cost control. With assets to trade.

They could easily walk away from the draft with
Hunter
Hayes
Bol Bol

Thats insane.

Young
Huerter/Bazemore
Hunter/Prince
Collins/Spellman
Hayes/Bol Bol/Len/Seller

Danny's not trading 9 and 14 for #2.
A. that's not nearly enough value to get the second pick in the draft
B. All the picks this year are going out the door for AD.

if somehow Danny manages to hold on to any first rounders this year, I doubt it'll be anything better than the C's own pick in the low 20's

if a deal for AD falls through and we retain the picks,  I could see a deal to consolidate and move up a bit.  no matter what happens though, I don't see Bol as a player Danny has his eye on.  The scouting I've read on him has consistently questioned his motor and that's a character flaw Danny avoids.
