I don't know how a trade like this would work salary wise, but i think it would be good for both teams. Rondo is an all-star, but Westbrook could be a superstar. Lamb could turn into a very good player for the future. The Thunder would be insane on the defensive end, with Rondo, Sefalosha, Durant, Garnett, and Ibaka in the starting lineup nobody would score on that team. I think it works for both parties. What do you guys think?

Well, salary-wise, a lot more money has to come back from OKC to make it work.

Roster-wise, I'm not sure. Green becomes quite an expensive 6th man.

At a minimum Perkins would have to be added for both salary and because he is a bad contract.  I think OKC would probably need more young players

This works financially and would probably be a pretty fair trade for both teams

Rondo, Garnett, Green, Bradley, Melo (or sullinger)

for

Westbrook, Perkins, Lamb, Sefolosha, Collison

I'd do it as Russ is a much better player to build around than Rondo.  Boston would still be pretty good next year with Perkins, Sullinger, Pierce, Sefo, and Westbrook along with Collison, Lee, Lamb, Bass, and Terry

I definitely think it's a fair trade. I would include Melo in place of Sullinger. Buy out Paul Pierce and allow him to join a contender. Go with a starting lineup of Westbrook, Lamb, Sefalosha, Sullinger and Collison. That gives us a promising core to build around. After that, try to land a big name free agent to join Westbrook as a one two punch if possible.

I think OKC likes Westbrook too much for that, although I think it could work out for both teams if they accept Green as a sixth man.

I'd say a more likely deal would be:

Celtics get:
Westbrook, Perkins and Lamb

Thunder get:
Rondo, Garnett and Bradley

Salaries match and I think both teams come out the other side happy (OKC might want a bit more out of the deal).

I'm strongly against this move.

However, OKC is a lock for the Finals though

You have to be a thunder fan?   This would gut the Celtics!

I think Perk would be wishful thinking though Ainge likes bigs who get under 6 RPG but he knows how damaged he is as a player.

Rondo and Garnett for Westbrook, Lamb, and Collison works.

Would I do it as the celtics?  I don't know, but probably if they really want to start the rebuilding phase.  Westbrook is a little better, is 2 years younger, and is a player who is more apt to sustain a superstar level of play over the course of an entire regular season than Rondo.  When Pierce is gone, we are going to need that regular season production.  I know some of you are of the mindset "championship or tank", but as a season ticket holder, I want to see a good product on the floor every season even if it means we don't have a chance at that #1 overall pick.

Would I do it as the Thunder?  I don't know.  That's a bit of a talent downgrade from Westbrook to Rondo over the longhaul of their careers just for the improved 1-2 year chance of a championship by gaining Garnett.  But, would Rondo be a better fit around Durant than Westbrook?  Possibly... I'm not sure.

  • We may as well put Tyrion in at center.
Westbrook is really underrated. He's a top 3 slasher in the game right now and is one of the most explosive players that the game has seen.

He's way better to build around than Rondo, and Rondo is way a way better complimentary (2nd star) player than Westbrook.

Honestly, I would do this trade in a heart beat (Though I would push to trade Bradley instead of Green because it makes a LOT more sense). How did James Harden do when given the 1st option star player role? He reveled in it - Westbrook is one of those first in the gym and last to leave players. He's a fighter and he'll buy in to the Celtics mystique. I feel like he could put up more efficient Allen Iverson numbers.

I like Marcus Smart
