Rondo has to be going right????

Yeah. Again like last year there is a logjam at the guard spots.

Smart, young need time to play. And you figure that pressey has improved on his jump shot.

Bc it looks like we are not getting love, melo etc. Rondo should be traded for help upfront
There's no logjam at the guard spot. Rondo, Bradley, Smart and Young should be the four man rotation with Young seeing by far the least amount of time. I actually expect to see him some in Maine for a while.

And this means nothing regarding a Rondo trade. Rondo and Bradley will start. Smart will be the third combo guard off the ball that plays with both Bradley and Rondo. Young will get some spot time or be D-Leaguing it.

Players like Babb, Johnson, Pressey, and Bogans, that have non-guaranteed deals totaling over $7 million will be dealt or cut. That's Danny's MO. Its what he does. Remember last year at this time when everyone was figuring that Terrence Williams, Shav Randolph and D.J. White had futures with this team because of their non-guaranteed contracts? What happened? None even made it to training camp.

The year before what happened to those non-guaranteed guys, guys like Sean Williams and E'twaun Moore? They were shipped out in a deal for Courtney Lee.

This is how Danny handles non-guaranteed contract guys. Players like Pressey, Babb, and Johnson are a dime a dozen. Best to use them or to cut them and find help elsewhere on the roster as Young and Smart have replaced Pressey, Babb and Johnson.

And once again, there has been no indication from the Celtics front office that they want to do anything with Rondo except re-sign him to a new deal. Calling Isiaih Thomas means nothing regarding Rondo being traded and neither does retaining Avery Bradley. TThey are all separate deals with very little to do with each other.

Trade market always devalues the contracts FA unless they are stars.

Rookie deals and stars are the bargains in this league, FAs overall get overpaid to soak up the money that the rookies and guys like LeBron can't get.

That's steep, he is not an 8 million dollar player especially since he can't play a full season.

Nope. Nope nope nope. Too much. Smart will be able to do nearly everything Bradley does, and then some other stuff, for $3mil a year.

Don't like this.

I think 8 million per will be well worth it.

I bet the contract can be worth up to $32 depending on games played bonuses.

Yeah, as much as I like Bradley, I'm not loving that.  Overpaying role players seems like a recipe for long-term lack of flexibility.

The only reason to have concern about the number is his injury history.  Otherwise he is fairly paid on this market.

I would love if there are incentives for health concerns.

Brace for an overpay.

This. It's a Jeff Green flashback all over again.

Green wasn't overpaid. He was adequately paid, his contract is a bargain.

You guys in general under value the market. If you're surprised every time a player is signed it simply means you don't have a proper estimation of the value of players in this league.

And by lowballing everyone around, you're just not going to get anything done.

We will agree to disagree about Jeff. And also I understand playee value. I just didn't see it as an adequate signing then considering he had only played an unimpressive halfseason for us before missing a year. And I don't think that hot phase he got into 2 seasons ago suddenly make his contract a better value.

Hmm, so it actually happened. I remember the general consensus on this board was that Bradley is worth about 6-7m, but that 8 or more is an overpay. Seems he got 8/yr. which means he practically makes Jeff Green money. I dunno how I feel about this.

I do like Bradley though. He's probably my favorite player on this team, though Smart is quickly climbing up the ranks.

Nice.  Opposing backcourts are shaking in their shoes already.  Smart + Bradley are going to be terrific defensively

Admittedly I will be a bit disappointed if the contract is inflated, but Bradley belongs with the Celtics.

Wow, overpaying for n injury prone undersized guard that doesn't rebound, pass or handle the ball well for his position. I wanted to keep Avery, but 6 million was a fair offer IMO. He got his contract, I hope to see a great deal of improvement in other areas besides shooting.
You can't reason someone out of a position they didn't reason themselves into.
