Pelicans - Zion
This is the only mention so far of NOP in the entire thread.  Zion is as promising as when he was drafted, and that is meant as a dig.  He was injured and out of shape.  Ingram is good, but not great.  They just re-started with a new coach.  Why are the NYK with Barrett and Randle considered but not the Pels?
Zion just put up an All-NBA calibre season and played 61 games, more than Jaylen Brown. What is your 'dig' based on? Especially as he lost 20 or so pounds for this season
Yeah Zion is a beast in the making and Ingram has already been an all star.  They also have a bunch of extra future 1st round picks.  They have a couple of bad salaries, but Zion is probably the 2nd best player still on a rookie contract in the entire league (Doncic is obviously 1st).  New Orleans is set up quite well.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

I saw this artlcle & video a few months ago breaking down Zion being used as the ballhandler in the pick and roll and how effective he is in those plays.  It's something they rarely did before but started doing a lot in the second half of the season as he's pretty darn good as a scorer and playmaker.  He's already dominant and still has a lot of potential room to grow and improve too.  If they can put a competent, sensible team around Zion then that team should be good.

Imo, the teams in the worst situation are the ones stuck in the middle. They aren't good enough to make a deep playoff run. They aren't bad enough to acquire an elite draft prospect either. With this in mind, I voted for the Spurs.

They should build around him like Orlando did with Dwight. Shooting, shooting and more shooting!

Yeah I'd like to bump this thread now and say the Celtics are one of the few teams in a bad situation right now in the NBA lol

One of the few? Detroit, Orlando, Cleveland, Washington, Toronto, Indiana, Houston, New Orleans, San Antonio, Minnesota and Sacramento all off the top of my head are worse off than us. We have a 23 year-old on the fringe of the top 10 players in the league, and another young All-Star.
