American Hustle is waaaaaaaaay overrated.
I thought it was fantastic.   The only "overrated" part is Jennifer Lawrence.  She over-acts.   Her charisma gets her far, but the scene chewing was almost distracting from the story.  SHe's nowhere near as good as Amy Adams.  Adams is a pro's pro.  Whole nother level.

Thought it was fantastic as well. Agree about Lawrence too. I hated her character but, thats what she was meant to play. Still thought she was distracting from the story as well. Amy Adams, Ms Consistant. Everything she does is great. Same with Bale, dude kills it.

Also watched Prisoners. Incredible flick. Great suspense throughout, great overall story, great acting from the stellar cast.

Seven Psychopaths.

Thought it was incredible. Great cast. Sam Rockwell (as always) is amazing. Christopher Walken, Woody Harrleson, Colin Farrell and Tom Waits are all amazing.

Very interesting script and pretty hilarious.

I just finished It's a Wonderful Life last night for the first time end to end. It's gotta be the happiest ending in any movie. I think.

Finally got around to check out some of the award season movies.

12 Years a Slave - Pretty powerful stuff.  It's paced like an action movie, so it def keeps you on the edge of your seat.  An emotionally exhausting movie, but worth it.

Nebraska - Alexander Payne is one of the best directors going, and this is no exception.  It's not his best work, but it's right up there.  Tons of great dialogue for the actors to chew through.  Well casted.

Just watched Dallas Buyer's Club.  really good stuff.  It does a grab job of putting you back in a time when AIDS was a scary, mysterious drug, and it also shows how far civil rights have advanced for homosexuals over the last 25 or so years.  Matthew McConaughey has a done a 180 with his career.  Dude used to do mostly forgettable rom-coms, lately almost everything he works on is quality.

The Road. That movie felt like having someone drain all my happiness, but it was great. Huge Viggo Mortensen fan.

I liked American Hustle and agree about Lawrence, Bale nailed it.

Also saw The Family with Robert De Niro (my favorite actor ever) and I loved it.
