Title: NBA 2k13 All-Purpose Thread

Well, the first review is out (9.1 on IGN (http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/09/28/nba-2k13-review)), so its probably time.

Post all your thought's on Bieber's slick handles, Player-GM Sit-downs, tech's you get by screaming at the X-Box Kinect (you can't do that, but you can do vocal substitutions), and the 1992 Virtual Dream Team.

Are you kidding me? Ray is not and has never been a 3 (Just in case you were wondering, Pierce went for 33 points; I posted Ray up nearly every possession, and we won 97-89).

Another thing to note: 2K has our starting lineup with Jeff Green as our starting PF.

Overall, I'm a little disappointed with it, but once some of the bugs are fixed, I'm sure I will like it.

Even if I don't, ACIII October 30th!!!! Woohoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2k always screws up lineups that end up playing higher talent players out of position.

You may want to download the newest roster from 2k share and start your association over. But then, I guarantee you'll want to start over again after training camp ends.

I made a MyPlayer but haven't played any games with him yet. If anybody is on PS3 and wants to try some 3 on 3 let me know, not sure how it fully works yet but I think it's some kind of crew up where we can play other people it sounds nice.

- Third, I own NBA2K11 and now NBA2K13. I know each year;s game is aimed toward some nostalgic point. 2K11 was Jordan. 2K13 is Dream Team and some classic games.

I love playing as the old Celtics teams on 2K13, but they're limited. I think the 2K12 game has more Bird-related games/teams.

Can you let me know in this forum? If the 2K12 game has more Bird-related games/teams I will buy it.

p.s. I find it lame that in the "old school" games players dunk with ease. I'd rather see layups. However, I wonder how guys like Satch Sanders and Heinsohn feeling when their characters dunk with ease.

But they again have a bug in the statistics part of the game (though not as bad as last year where in association mode your team would have e.g. 90 apg, 80 rpg etc...).
Now the gametrack feature at the end of the game does not have the same stats as the global team stats for that game.
I can't understand how you can not see this as a development team, or see it, but then not care about it. I am a software engineer myself, and when you implement a feature, you test it and if it doesn't work, you fix it (or if you can't fix it, leave it out). I thought this was common sense, but apparently it's not. I'm not even getting my hopes up that they will fix this, seeing as they didn't address the team stats bug last year either.

But at least the team stats are correct in the association, which I find more important, so it's a minor complaint really.

I also like how the game analyzes how you play, and gives you feedback on the MyPlayer screen. It told me I play at a low pace, have a good inside/outside game, but that I do not pass a lot (which I find strange, because I usually have quiet a lot of assists).

Also important to note: the pc version doesn't have MyTeam :( This is a major setback in my opinion. I looked forward to trying that mode.

I played a bit of practice mode and 1 quick game (Celtics v Spurs, 5 min quarters) vs my roomate and here are my observations...

The game just feels right. From Rondo walking up the court and gesturing out plays to Avery Bradley with an and-1 layup followed by an emphatic fist pump from the ground - you feel like the players have a stake in the game.

The controls are going to take some time for me as i was used to the right stick as my shot stick as opposed to ballhandling. BUT, i will say that it's the right move by 2k. The dribbling moves feel intuitive, it's just going to take some time to unlearn previous controller settings.

Jeff Green was a beast. Scored a game-high 15. knock-down shooter with a blow by ability when guarded by a big.

My only complaint so far was how easy it was for big men to gain position right under the basket. Tim Duncan feasted on KG as my roomate used Parker to find him with unreal post-position time and time again. But perhaps the default settings had more to do with that...

Can't wait to start My Player. Hit me up at JzaJenius36 for an online game!

Starting with the soundtrack (if you're a JZ fan of course which I am), it's insane. The controls take a little getting used to, but having purchased the game midnight Monday and playing it non stop that night till the morning (if I didnt have to go to work I probably would have played a straight 24 hrs)and again when I got in yesterday till the wee hours of this morning, I can tell you that once you get used to the controls and using both analog sticks you will be hooked. Practice. Or you can just use the buttons as normal, but you can even used the right stick for moves and the buttons to pass and shoot. Rondo has made Kyrie Irving and Tony Parker fall so far roflol....snapped them ankles.

The game is extra deep. It will take days to get into all the menus and modes. Creating your own sneakers and then being able to actually purchase them directly from Nike? What...are you kidding me? Yep, in 2K13 you can do this. I can go on and on. Sure, there's a few bugs but what game doesn't have bugs on initial release. Up until now I would have said that MLB The Show 12 is the best sports game ever created with 2K12 2nd and the last NFL 2K game before Madden jacked em would be third. 2K13 moves to the top of my list now! ;D ;D

Those who think its not worth it to go from 2K12 to 2K13...you obviously haven't really gotten into 2K13 yet. Those who are considering...everyone's taste is different. If you can afford it, do it. If you can't then hold off, but I doubt if you can find this game on craigslist (someone selling it after playing it)like you could Madden a day after it came out lol.

I would like to give yall a heads up on some of the rookies,

Sully is a beast in the game lol....

T-Rob is a monster as well and snags all kinds of boards...

A-Davis words can't describe how ridiculus he is lol, he is fast as crap and will get every block!

Wooten its really good as well and can be the best PG in the game if used right.

All i got so far....oh and Kris Jo not in te game yet

Yup they are driving me crazy. I don't know why but last night after not even going through training camp, tried to convince myself the controls were nearly the same. Nope way different got my butt kicked 5 games in a row online till I finally got one. I said I'm not stopping until I get one. haha

I need some practicing for sure. I don't really like how it's hard to stick with a guy on defense. When trying to stick with someone who's got handles should we be holding both left + right triggers, and the right stick left and right? or should we just hold the left trigger?

Have a feeling the modifications to the controls are going to take a while for me to... enjoy, but it seems like it's an adjustment for the best. Never felt comfortable with anything besides a spin move with last years controls.

Also guessing that I'm going to become obsessed with creating the perfect Iverson led team.

My oldest son goes by "Agent178Jackson." Better bring your A-Game vs him.

Whatever glitch that was spoken about earlier in this thread seems to be fixed...I played my 5th Career game with no apparent glitches/freezes. I remember getting a "download update" alert when I 1st started the game this afternoon, so hopefully that was the patch that fixed it.

So right now I'm 2-3 with the ORL Magic, lol. Glen Davis is balling, Turkoglu seems to have found his shot that's been AWOL the last few years, and ORL is surprisingly competitive.

And the icing on the cake is that we beat Minny in Minny and KLove didn't eat my lunch - nor did Stiemsma block my shot. The big fella did get a few, though. I miss him.

So far a great game.

Nope - 360, as "CeltixDAD1819." Only look to play me if you want an extremely easy win.

My oldest son goes by "Agent178Jackson." Better bring your A-Game vs him.

Whatever glitch that was spoken about earlier in this thread seems to be fixed...I played my 5th Career game with no apparent glitches/freezes. I remember getting a "download update" alert when I 1st started the game this afternoon, so hopefully that was the patch that fixed it.

So right now I'm 2-3 with the ORL Magic, lol. Glen Davis is balling, Turkoglu seems to have found his shot that's been AWOL the last few years, and ORL is surprisingly competitive.

And the icing on the cake is that we beat Minny in Minny and KLove didn't eat my lunch - nor did Stiemsma block my shot. The big fella did get a few, though. I miss him.

So far a great game.

Did it freeze before your update?? I tried again tonight and it froze

So far so good - at least for the 360.

I'm at Game 7 in mycareer mode, and only one 2-3 sec pause that seemed a bit unusual, but no permanent freezes so far.

8 games in I requested to get traded to the Celtics and now I'm the Celtics starting shooting guard. Bass is now traded for me lol

I have to say, I love the gameplay for this game a lot better than 2k12 because of the physics mechanisms behind it. They made it so that every bump affects your ball handling skills.

So far so good, no complaints.

I actually hurt my knee playing basketball a couple of nights ago, so, I am working from home (playing 2K13)...
Sucks that my knee is no good, but, at least I have 2K to pass the time...
I have started My Career, where I was drafted by the Rockets at 14, or wherever they picked around there. Going to have to demand a trade to Boston soon, maybe when my player gets a little better, don't want virtual KG cussing me out.
Also started season mode just to get familiar playing with the Celtics so I can beat my friends when they come over for games night.
My PS3/2K name is BigDave_31 if anyone is ever up for a game.

Are you online? As far as I've seen, being connected to Xbox Live, there's no way of avoiding autosave.

But wow. Hate this one. They put way too much time and effort into the cheesy presentation than anything else it seems. I'm assuming most of that presentation was Jay-Z's idea. No idea what qualifies him to do anything in the gaming business. (Although I do think he did a stunning job with the soundtrack and compared to 2K12's awful, awful list, this is stunning.)

I don't really like the new controls.. Nothing was broken in 2K11 or 12. Not sure i'm seeing the need to fix it here. And the virtual credit is awful. Should have kept skill points and just added real money contracts to buy those stupid clothes and upgrade pieces.

right but what buttons do you push for that? in 2k12 I always used just the LT but this year that isn't working for me

I've noticed this, too. They are god-awful, and in my MyCareer, they traded JET, Bass, and Green, and got back DJ Augustin, Ian Mahinmi, and some other mediocre player.

On another note, it's nearly impossible to beat Miami, the Lakers, or Brooklyn. Figures.

probably every MyCareer mode is set up differently, base on random probability of injuries and minutes (therefore trading certain players)

In mycareer, starting lineup consists of Rondo, Me, Pierce, Green and KG. Bench is Terry, Lee, and Wilcox. Bass and Milicic got traded

I hate vc and the fact that I need an Internet connection to do half of the stuff on the game. Buying players for nba blacktop with the same currency you use in two major game modes is a major design flaw from a user perspective. But it's all about the money.

i requested to play with Josh Smith and they traded KG and Bradley for Smith and Pachulia lol...

I ended up complaining and we got back KG

so its

Rondo (lob city, averaging 20 assists)/Lee
Me (sg averaging a triple double)/Terry
Pierce/Me
Smith/Green
KG/Pachulia

man that team was so awesome, its lob city all day

After getting off to a rough start last season, he lead PHX to a championship and is now about to get his first ASG start.

6'9 sf/pf 3 pt specialist ANNTTOOIIINNEEE WAAAALLLKKKKKEEEERRRR is the best player ive ever had. Feel like 3 pt specialist is def the way to go outta the gates. Easy to get open looks from behind the line. Still get some speed, passing ability and can finish ok.
